    UK - Hereford, LIVING WhtMale, ~75, US/Canadian accent, Nov'15 - Roger Curry

    https://www.facebook.com/westmerciap...578168/?type=3

    http://www.westerndailypress.co.uk/I...ail/story.html

He told police and those caring for him now that his name is Roger Curry, but hasn't been able to say anything more about who he is, where he came from or where he lives.

He was found wandering around the Credenhill area of Hereford a couple of Saturdays ago, on November 7, and Hereford police have extended the search for information internationally.

Credenhill is the site of RAF Hereford which is the home base of 22 Para, aka the SAS. There are a number of SAS graves in Credenhill churchyard, so I wonder if he could have been visiting the grave of a former comrade.

Ok... Maybe this guy from NY?

I'm looking for those who are missing in the last year in America, but most of them in that age range are already bald, or seriously balding, which rules them out to me. This guy seems similar. Definitely not named Roger. Suffering from dementia.

Interestingly I had read a comment somewhere that apparantly a man thought he recognised him as someone he worked with in the raf. No idea where I saw this now so cant follow it up

They also believe Roger Curry is not his real name and is actually a friend of the pensioner who has since died.
The mystery pensioner speaks with an American or Canadian accent but detectives have also drawn a blank internationally after contacting the embassies of both countries.

Doctors say he is displaying signs of dementia but have no records of him ever receiving treatment.

Police today released photographs of the man in the hope a friend or relative will recognise him.

Police have described the man as white, tall and of slim build with grey hair, blue eyes and grey stubble.

He is said to squint, so may normally wear glasses. He was found wearing a black hooded top, black jogging trousers, grey and blue socks and trainers.

On Nov. 7, a man since described as a “Canadian” flagged down a passing ambulance and placed Roger Curry into their care, saying that he had found the elderly man wandering around.

The mysterious Canadian has since vanished, although police are appealing for him to come forward.

If I had to guess based on these two seconds of speech, I’d guess this man is from what dialectologists call the ‘midland’ region of the US; Pennsylvania, Ohio, Indiana, Missouri.

Police were not even sure if the man has ever been to North America or if he is “purely mimicking the accent.”

An online video by BBC Midlands shows Curry saying a few broken phrases to staff with Herefordshire Council social service.

“Yeah sure, boy,” he says at one point. At another, “pretty good, have you been in that house there?”

Although the evidence is admittedly slight, several linguists contacted by the Post say the man’s Americanized pronunciation of “house” potentially disqualifies him as a legitimate Canuck.

His accent sounds (to me) like it's from southern/central Virginia, coastal MD, VA, or North Carolina. West Virginia, western Maryland, and maybe eastern Kentucky are other possibilities but IMHO less likely. He sounds very older generation Virginian (like some elders in my family). FWIW.

Then again I could be totally off. ops:

I HOPE someone comes forward soon who cares about him. Poor guy!

By the way, upon searching Roger Curry I came across this site (pbase) of photo galleries taken by a Roger Curry. They mostly consist pictures of coastal and water areas in and around Ireland taken from his boat. He seems to be really into sailing/boating ... Perhaps he came across this man on one of his journeys? Or was he on a trip with him and then he then he went downhill, mentally, so dropped him off when he was in Herefordshire? There's a handful of various men in his photos, and in one or two photos there's a man that looks quite similar to our "uknown gentleman", at least to me.

This is all speculation and could be absolutely nothing and unrelated in the least, but I just thought it was a little interesting.

    Mooo.
