Ruiz was annoyed when he was asked to watch his girlfriend's friend's two children whilst they went to the store, so he put his foot on one year old Scarlett's chest and applied pressure. He admitted that he felt better after stepping on Scarlett, so he started watching TV and later denied having injured Scarlett, who struggled to breathe and had a seizure shortly after the attack.

Daniel Ruiz was found guilty on one count each of second-degree murder and assault on a child causing a death, according to a statement released Friday by the San Bernardino County district attorneys office...

After being convicted by a jury Thursday, Ruiz was facing 25 years to life in state prison. He was scheduled to be sentenced Jan. 15 in Victorville Superior Court.

Hard to understand... why some women leave their babies with a boyfriend when statistics show many times this turns into tragedy.
Also there's the notion that many men will not care about children who aren't "theirs" and thus feel no bonding, nor any connection or responsibility in the slightest.

What a vicious, loser scum ! My opinion.
