• Missing Since: November 29, 1986 from Hilton Head Island, South Carolina
• Classification: Non-Family Abduction
• Date Of Birth: June 30, 1970
• Age: 16 years old
• Height and Weight: 5'8, 140 pounds
• Distinguishing Characteristics: Caucasian female. Brown hair, brown eyes. Porco wore artifical fingernails at the time of her 1986 disappearance. Her nickname is Krissi.
• Clothing/Jewelry Description: An orange sweatshirt, light blue jeans and white sneakers.

Details of Disappearance
Porco was last seen leaving her family's residence in the Woodlake Villas condominium complex on Hilton Head Island, South Carolina on November 29, 1986. She had an argument with her mother during the evening hours about her curfew and left at 10:30 p.m. Porco called a friend afterwards and asked her to meet by the complex's pool. Her friend arrived shortly thereafter, but only found Porco's red sweater by the pool area. She has never been heard from again.

Porco's savings account has not been utilized since her 1986 disappearance. She did not have any extra cash or belongings with her at the time she vanished, and she left behind between $100 and $200 in a savings account. Foul play is suspected in her case.

Christopher J. Below is a possible suspect in Porco's case and in several other murders and disappearances of young women, including Mary Kushto, Heather Teague and Shaylene Farrell. A photograph of him is posted below this case summary. He pleaded guilty to attempted involuntary manslaughter in connection with the shooting of Kathern Fetzer, whose body was never found, and is currently serving time in an Ohio prison. All of Below's suspected victims are dark-haired young women. One of Porco's missing person fliers was found inside his home in Lodi, Ohio in 1992. Below's sister stated he carried missing person posters for several women in a box, but investigators have been unable to find the box. Investigators know Below, a native of Kentucky, was living in South Carolina during the late 1980s and early 1990s. They are trying to determine his whereabouts at the time of Porco's disappearance. It should be emphasized that he has not been charged in connection with any case besides Fetzer's and only conjecture links him to Porco's case.

Porco's mother believes that her daughter's remains are buried in the North Forest Beach area, but no evidence has been discovered to prove any theory. Porco's case remains unsolved.

Cold case: Reward offered in 1986 case of missing Hilton Head teen

Kristina Porco, 16, was reported as a runaway by her mother following a domestic dispute at their Woodlake Villas apartment on Nov. 29, 1986, according to an advisory issued by the sheriff's office Sunday morning.

Shortly after Porco left the apartment, her father allegedly drove around for a few hours looking for the teen.

His whereabouts during that time were never established, according to the advisory.

"A reward of up to $2,500 is being offered by the Beaufort County Sheriff's Office for information about a Hilton Head Island teen missing since 1986.

Based on clues and speculation, Kristina's mother believes that her remains may be in the North Forest Beach area.

I'm not sure if Kristina's mother has expanded publicly on why she believes her daughter's remains may be in this area.

Shortly after Porco left the apartment, her father allegedly drove around for a few hours looking for the teen.

His whereabouts during that time were never established, according to the advisory.

I was curious if this is the first time this information has been made public. None of the previous reports that I could find mention this and most of them say that the parents didn't realize Kristina was missing until 24 hours later.

Human remains found in Hilton Head woods

"The Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office is investigating reports of skeletal human remains found on Hilton Head Island Saturday in a wooded area on Spanish Wells Rd., according to the sheriff’s office.

The remains were found by the landowner late Christmas Eve afternoon, said Sherriff’s Office spokesman Capt. Bob Bromage. Deputies arrived at the scene and confirmed the remains were human. The identity of the deceased as well as the cause and manner of death are still not known due to the condition of the remains, Bromage said. The age of the remains is also not yet determined..."

Could this be her?

North Forest Beach is a residential area near the ocean on Hilton Head Island.

Authorities still searching for Krissi Porco - November 2000

most that went to High School with her on the island believe her Father is the one that did something to her. She was pregnant with a biracial baby and her Dad didn’t like black men etc. He never cooperated with finding her and was horrible to the mother because she won’t give up the search. North Forrest Beach is an area not a Forrest and it’s located right near where she lives and disappear from. Hilton Head always tries to appear to be this crime free wonderful place but believe me when you grow up there and live there you see everything they hide from visitors so tourism doesn’t take a nosedive

Well that’d be a horrible twist. Who knew she was pregnant & how far along was she? Did LE interview the boyfriend & father? Where are they both today? Welcome to WS!

The guy she was pregnant from was questioned but had nothing to do with the disappearance. All of his alibis checked out etc. He passed away on the island still in 2014, lost control of his car and struck a tree on airport road. That road has a lot of bends and curves and has been the spot of quite a few deaths
I don’t remember how far along she was but it wasn’t a lot like 5 months or like showing visibly really.
The Dad was questioned but not much. Unfortunately law enforcement initially treated it as just another one of us kids hanging out with friends on the island and that she was a runaway.
The island is small, it’s only 12 miles from North end to the South end of it, most of the kids that were growing up there all knew one another at that time and a lot are still there to this day.
There’s actually quite a bit of crime there but they hide it from media or don’t publish it until prime vacation times have past. Everything is strategically hidden away.... for example when you drive down the main highway 278 coming o to the island on your right hand side you’ll see a Dunkin’ Donuts and a thrift store but if you go to that area and a actually pass that the road bends around and quickly you’ll find yourself in the projects aka government housing apartments. They are called “Sandalwood Terrace” and “Hilton Head Gardens” which have drug busts, drive bye shootings and murders before.
I don’t know why more effort hasn’t been put into this case it’s like it took awhile for them to classify it as her missing instead of a runaway and they didn’t question the Dad more even though multiple students told police what they knew etc.
There’s a few cases from the island that didn’t get the attention they needed at the time of incident.

We took yearly vacations to HHI for quite a few years up until about five years ago. We really love it there, but I know what you mean, have seen the government housing, etc. There are some rough areas.

It is very similar to the case of Angela Hammond from a public telephone, she was intercepted by some psychopath or serial killer... my opinion is divided when she calls her friend and her mother does not allow her to stay... there are two things, first that she He was exposing himself to some problem by hosting Kristina because he would be supporting her and not her mother, but if he had allowed her to stay, perhaps nothing would have happened to him, he would have spent the night in a safe house...
It's hard to know what happened to her but maybe one day we will know the truth...
rest in peace
