Search enters 2nd day for Portland climber missing on Washington Cascade peak
"The search for a missing 33-year-old Portland mountain climber and musician resumed Tuesday morning in the central Washington Cascades, official said.

Chelan County Sheriff's officials say Adam Ochshorn, a Portland piano teacher and jazz drummer, on Friday planned to hike to Colchuck Lake, camp overnight then Saturday climb the North Buttress Couloir route to reach the 8,705-foot summit of Colchuck Peak. He planned to return late Saturday or early Sunday from the excursion in the mountains west of Wenatchee, Washington.

Ochshorn's car was found at a trailhead in the Bridge Creek Campground, and the search began early Monday. Sheriff's search volunteers, including climbers with Chelan County Mountain Rescue and a Snohomish County Sheriff's helicopter crew, worked throughout the day in and around the climbing route to find him but were unsuccessful."

RIP Adam.

From the obituary:

An expert and exuberant climber (he was exuberant about everything he did), Adam went 'soloing' over the Thanksgiving weekend in the Cascades and did not return when expected. Experienced rescue teams, including helicopters, were unable to find him, and they gave up the search when they realized that he could not have survived.

RIP Adam

RIP Adam! Glad for your family that you've been found.

Body of Portland hiker missing since Nov. found on Cascades peak

From the link:

Nearly 11 months later, a helicopter was in the Colchuck Peak area on an unrelated search August 30, 2016. The team spotted a faded orange object on a steep slope at around 6,500 foot level.

The Chelan County Mountain Rescue team returned to the area Thursday (two days later) and identified the object as Ochshorn’s climbing pack. They searched the area but couldn’t find any trace of the missing hiker.

Another team went to the area above where his pack was found Saturday and located his remains on a steep slope of loose rock and boulders.

I hope he died instantly. Beautiful young man. RIP.
