Not much information here sadly - who last saw her?

I wonder if the dog is also missing?

This is a very remote area, with a river bordering the road in many places. Where was she walking from? Hopefully more details come out.

Washington County, VA detectives exhaust all leads in search for missing woman

WASHINGTON COUNTY, VA (WJHL) – The Washington County, VA Sheriff’s Office says it has exhausted all resources in the search for a woman missing for nearly 2 weeks.

Detectives say 46-year-old Jennifer (Jen) Rowe was last seen Thursday, December 3, 2015.

The sheriff’s office has searched the North Fork of the Holston River to find Rowe.

Investigators say based on the information they’ve received, they’re fairly confident that Rowe fell into the river.

Officers have used K-9, dive and air search teams.

This is last news in the media. A month ago. If she did fall into the Holston River the conditions are too bad to search now.

I'd also like to know where the dog is or if others have seen him. Comments on the Sheriff's Office FB page seem to indicate locals think she was walking back to her home, and slipped on rocks and injured herself and/or fell into the river. Hope she is found soon for her family and friends' peace of mind.

Vigil held for missing Saltville woman

There was a candlelit vigil in Saltville, Thursday night in honor of a missing woman.

Jennifer Rowe disappeared on December 5th. She was reportedly walking to her house along the Holston River that night, but she never made it back.

Dozens who knew Rowe came out Thursday night to remember her. Angie O'Quinn is Rowe's friend and she organized the event. She said a similar vigil was also held at the same time in New Jersey where Rowe's children live.

O'Quinn read a letter from Rowe's daughter who said she's thankful and touched by this community's efforts to find her mother. And O'Quinn hopes this vigil will inspire people to not give up on the search.

Rowe's 27-year-old daughter, Heather Monteiro, of Phillipsburg, started the Facebook group Missing Jennifer Rowe.

They searched a 19 mile stretch of the river back in December and didn't find her, but are confident she fell in? What is the evidence to support that?
    http://wjhl.com/2015/12/15/washingto...missing-woman/

And I keep thinking about her dog and her green jacket. If the dog is not missing, I wonder if they have tried walking her route with him to see if he diverges? Her green jacket would make it so difficult to see her if she is in a wooded area. I wonder if the police are actively investigating this? I am worried how little information was released to the media if they feel all leads and resources are exhausted.

Search continues for missing Saltville woman

The Washington County Sheriff’s Office is seeking information on a woman first reported missing from the Saltville area in early December.

According to Detective Brandon Tweed with the Washington County Sheriff’s Office, Rowe was last seen with friends on Tumbling Creek Road. She was said to have left on foot going toward her cabin on North Fork Road. To get there, Tweed said she had to cross a bridge, walk along the river and up a holler. The area is rugged, he said, and her cabin is without electricity.
“She could possibly have fallen in the river on her way home,” Tweed said. “The river was high (after days of rain) and she may have been impaired by alcohol.”
When asked if her disappearance had any suspicion of foul play, Tweed said, “We’re categorizing her as a missing person, but we’re not ruling anything out. Our main focus is to find her.”
Elaine Smythe, the public information officer for the WCSO, said the search that was conducted for Rowe included Black Diamond Search and Rescue, Mountain Search and Rescue, the Virginia State Police with divers, SRT and MedFlight, WCSO with search dogs, Washington County Lifesaving Crew, the Virginia Department of Game and Inland Fisheries, Virginia Department of Emergency Management, and fire departments from Chilhowie and Saltville. More than 200 searchers combed the river and its banks until the search was suspended on Dec. 16 due to inclement weather.
Tweed said the search has been concentrated on the Holston River North Fork area due to the circumstances. He said he wasn’t sure if Rowe could swim but that the condition of the river at the time of her disappearance would have made swimming difficult. He said the river and surrounding area had been searched for several miles. The terrain is rugged, he said, with a number of switchbacks and islands in the river.

The search is expected to continue as the weather improves.
