According to the complaint, in a November 1997 interview with police, Bachman's middle son, then 12, said that on the day Toni Bachman was last seen alive, April 26, 1997, he and his two brothers heard her scream while they were watching television in the family's home in White Bear Township...

"He said that the boys all thought the defendant had killed her," the complaint said. "He said that the defendant was in the bedroom constantly that weekend"...

Toni Bachman was 38 years old when she was reported missing by her mother on May 12, 1997. Investigators and friends say that just before she disappeared, she was preparing to leave her husband of 10 years.

Before he sentenced Norman Bachman to a little more than 13 years in prison for murdering and dismembering his wife more than 18 years ago, Ramsey County District Judge Salvador Rosas told him, "You are a terrible person."

Friday's sentencing marked the near end for a grieving family and frustrated investigators.

One question lingers: Where is Toni Bachman buried? Despite Norman Bachman's confession to the killing and his apparent willingness to work with investigators, his wife's remains have not been found.
