Police arrested a Delaware man accused of stabbing his estranged wife and her mother to death as they prepared to leave their home to go to church Sunday morning. Police say Gilbert Rochester, 66, of Clayton, parked his car about a mile east of a home in Smyrna, Delaware Sunday. Rochester's estranged wife Mary Lane, 56, was staying at the home with her mother, 80-year-old Louise Cavuto Carrow, as well as her 87-year-old step-father, police said. Rochester and Lane were in the process of a divorce, according to investigators.

Gilbert Rochester pleaded guilty Thursday in Kent County Superior Court to killing his estranged wife, Mary Lane and her mother, Louise Carrow. The judge sentencing Rochester to life in prison without the chance for parole.

Although Rochester did not speak at during the proceedings, Schmid did speak on his behalf telling the court that Rochester in part wanted to avoid trial as to not drag the families of the victims back through the painful facts of the case.

Meanwhile a member of the victims family, Antonio Moreno did speak saying that since the death penalty was no longer offered in Delaware that God would be the final judge in Rochester's case.
