An Oklahoma couple was arrested on charges of murder, rape, and child abuse following the death of a 4-year-old girl.

The girl, identified by police as Jaydenn Hansche, was taken to the St. John’s Hospital emergency room on November 15 by her mother, Courtney Hansche, and her mother’s boyfriend, Michael Nordbye, according to the Washington County Sheriff’s Office. The girl was unresponsive at the time and was later pronounced dead, authorities said.

“Signs of physical abuse and sexual abuse had been observed by medical staff,” according to a probable cause affidavit. A medical examiner said the girl suffered at least ten “blows to the head” and had marks on her face and shoulder “indicative of burn marks,” according to the affidavit. Her cause of death was listed as a homicide.

Her smile is just killing me. How could they do that to this innocent baby?

How could they do that to an innocent beautiful child like that?

So, all the 4 year olds I know go to bed at 5:45 p.m. every night. Right. And mom doesn't check on her until 11:30. Then "rushes" her to ER, after bathing her and doing laundry though. Even if she had nothing to do with the death, she is just as guilty since she obviously didn't put her child's needs first.

"Moms' boyfriends" should NEVER be left alone with kids. Really, maybe moms shouldn't even have boyfriends when they have little kids.

You can't say that about all boyfriends, maybe Moms should be a little more choosy. I'll agree that a lot of people can't be trusted, men and women. You need to be careful who you let in your children's lives.

You're right. I was painting with too broad of a brush.

According to the case’s probable cause affidavit, deputies were alerted around 12:44 a.m. Nov. 15 in reference to a child from the Vera area that had been pronounced dead at the St. John’s Owasso emergency room. The affidavit states that the child showed signs of “physical and sexual abuse.”

The signs included “marks to both nostrils, marks to her right shoulder area, a similar mark (to those on the shoulder) to her right lower jaw line and her left outer ankle area, discolored marks to the left forehead, bruising to the tops of both ears as well as behind both ears.”

Additionally, deputies say the child had “what appeared to be dried fecal matter on her right leg and hands.”

Reportedly, the attending ER physician said that the child “displayed signs of sexual abuse.”
...
Information reportedly showed that Hansche and Nordbye both were with the child later in the day, and said that the child was found “unresponsive and cold” at around 11:30 p.m. and that the girl had been “asleep” since 5:45 p.m.

Hansche reportedly told authorities that she and Nordbye then “undressed the child, showered her with shampoo” and “re-dressed the child prior to taking her to the emergency room.”

Additionally, investigators said there was injury to the child’s private area and that neither Nordbye or Hansche had “any explanation for the injuries” that caused the girl’s death.

The investigation, according to the affidavit, also showed Nordbye was a meth user and that he had “violent and physical outbursts while under the influence of methamphetamine” and presented “wild sexual requests to his sexual partners.”

Hansche and Nordbye are being held on $1 million bond each.

Judge orders couple to stand trial in death of 4-year-old

Washington County Special Judge John Gerkin bound a couple over for trial Tuesday following a preliminary hearing on first-degree murder by child abuse and sexual abuse charges following the death of a 4-year-old girl.

(...)

Gerkin found that enough evidence was presented to bind both Courtney Hansche and Nordbye over for trial. Defense attorneys made arguments for dismissal and bond reductions, which Gerkin denied.

The defendants’ next court date is set for May 4 for formal arraignment on the murder and sexual abuse charges. They remain in custody at the Washington County Detention Center. Bail has been set at $1 million bond each.
