David Welsh, known as Dave to family and friends, was last seen on Stockton High Street.

The 61-year-old’s disappearance is extremely out of character, said his family, and his mobile phone has been switched off...

“He’s been spotted on CCTV outside Goldie’s Bar at the other end of the High Street between about 7.30 to 8pm and that’s the last time anyone’s seen him.”

"The family are heartbroken and devastated by his disappearance," he said. "It is completely out of character for David to go missing and we are doing everything we can to trace him. We are scouring CCTV footage as we attempt to locate him."

Mr Welsh is described as a white male, around 5ft 8ins tall, of slim build and with short, grey hair. He was wearing light coloured jeans and a black waterproof jacket when he went missing.

Detective Inspector Glen Westmoreland said: “The search for David continues - three weeks on from when he was last seen.

"His family are desperately hoping for any further sightings or news on where he may be, having just had to go through Christmas not knowing where he is.

“Again, I would like to stress that this is very much an active missing person inquiry.

"I would ask anyone who believes that they may have seen David since the night he went missing to contact police.”

Today marks four weeks since Stockton grandad David Welsh disappeared.

Police are appealing to trace two people who could assist them with their inquiries into the whereabouts of the 61-year-old.

Officers investigating new CCTV from around 8.05pm on Tuesday, December 8, have identified a figure, who could potentially be Mr Welsh, standing by the river at the rear of the Grosvenor Casino on Moat Street, Chandlers Wharf.

As the figure stands there, two people walk by in the direction of Castlegate Quay.

This is seven minutes after the previous last sighting of Mr Welsh, who had been seen on CCTV walking past the Castlegate Shopping Centre car park on Tower Street, Stockton, at 7.58pm, in the direction of the A1305 Riverside Road.

Detective Inspector Glen Westmoreland said: “Whilst it is unconfirmed that the person in the CCTV footage is David, this footage could now potentially show the last sighting of him.
