IA - Tacono Conner, 36, killed, one injured in Des Moines shooting, 27 Dec 2015
DES MOINES, Iowa - "Police in Des Moines are investigating a shooting that killed one person and injured another. Police responded to a residence in the 5200 block of South Union Street at 10:54 p.m. Sunday to investigate a report of a shooting. Authorities say they found 36-year-old Tacono Conner, of Des Moines, dead inside the residence. A second victim, identified as 37-year-old Amy Stolki, was taken to the hospital for treatment and is expected to survive.
Police say neither Conner nor Stolki lived at the apartment."Before you criticize someone, you should walk a mile in their shoes. That way, when you criticize them, you're a mile away and you have their shoes.
"When from a long distant past nothing persists, after the people are dead, after things are broken and scattered, still alone, more persistent, more faithful, the smell and taste of things remain poised a long, long time like souls, ready to remind us, waiting, hoping for their moment amid the ruins of all the rest, and bear unfaltering in the tiny and almost impalpable drop of their essence the vast structure of recollection."

A homicide case from late last year is also still open, but police do not consider it unsolved, Des Moines Police spokesman Sgt. Paul Parizek said Wednesday. Tacono Conner, 36, was fatally shot Dec. 27, 2015, in the hallway of an apartment building in the 5200 block of South Union Street.
In that case, police have issued a material witness warrant for Alf Freddie Clark, 60, of Des Moines. The case is still open because no one has been arrested, but it is not considered unsolved because police are confident they have the evidence needed to charge a suspect, Parizek said.
