Nineteen-year-old Jerrica D. Schreib and her 42-year-old boyfriend, Donald Coons, were arrested on Friday, two weeks after Schreib's 3-month-old daughter died at Seattle Children's Hospital.

The child, who in court documents is referred to as MMS, arrived at the hospital on December 18 with "multiple broken bones, including varying vintage rib fractures, a healing broken arm, and numerous other unexplained injuries to include a laceration underneath her chin," according to police.

[...]

The child also suffered from several rib fractures, a lacerated liver, pneumonia and meningitis

The baby, identified in court papers only by the initials M.M.S., appeared to have suffered long-term abuse. She had a severely broken arm. The baby had never received medical attention for the injury, which appeared to be weeks old, according to a police report.

From the same article---

"Police also interviewed Coons' daughters, who are 14- 13- and 11-years-old. The girls, who had been living with Coons and Schreib, told detectives MMS had been "constantly crying" for weeks and that their father and Schreib were giving the infant Tylenol. The girls thought the child's arm was broken and they asked Coons and Schreib to take her to the doctor, according to court documents."

What is crazy is that these girls knew..... It had to have been apparent to anyone who had seen this child. I just have no words anymore.

It's to bad that they can't be given back a little of what they dished out. That would be cruel and unusual punishment. I hope they get life sentences.

This is a horrible story - I can't imagine the pain that poor baby experienced in her short, little life.

I wonder what happened to the "mom"'s (I use that term very loosely) older daughter...looks like she would be about 3 1/2 now. Unfortunately, it doesn't appear that Jerrica took advantage of the programs being offered to her two years ago.

Ugh. Yes, what happened to Jerrica finishing school and maybe attending college? The shelter only houses girls up to 18 so I suppose she had to leave once she turned 19 and that's when she met up with the man 23 years older than her. What a shame - this story could have had a happy ending.

The girls also said Schreib rarely helped care for the baby and would become frustrated when the child cried. They said MMS was often left alone in a car seat.

Here's the probable cause:

ETA: Note that the probable cause states that Coons isn't the baby's father and he knew it.

I am so sick of seeing these kinds of pathetic disgusting stories here. May both of these despicable people pay a heavy price. :rose:
