PRYOR — Sheriff's deputies are searching for a Mayes County woman who left her home Monday but never showed up for work and has been missing ever since.

Amy Edwards, 35, left her home east of Salina about 7:30 a.m. to go to her job at Lakeside Bank of Salina, Mayes County Sheriff's Capt. Rod Howell said.

On her way to work, Edwards called her husband at 7:38 a.m. and said she was in town, but by 9:30 a.m. bank employees said she had not arrived for work, Howell said.
“It was out of her character," he said. "She has been a bank employee for approximately two years, and this was something out of the norm for her.”

Once Edwards' husband found out she hadn't arrived at work, he notified the police, Howell said.

Before you criticize someone, you should walk a mile in their shoes. That way, when you criticize them, you're a mile away and you have their shoes.

"When from a long distant past nothing persists, after the people are dead, after things are broken and scattered, still alone, more persistent, more faithful, the smell and taste of things remain poised a long, long time like souls, ready to remind us, waiting, hoping for their moment amid the ruins of all the rest, and bear unfaltering in the tiny and almost impalpable drop of their essence the vast structure of recollection."

Most bank employees don't start work so early. Wonder if she had plans before work.
I understood every word you said. It was the order that you said them that has me confused.

From looking at a map, Pryor isn't far from the bank (maybe 9 miles?), but it's in the complete opposite direction from her house.

Edwards was known to take Kenwood Road from home to work, but the last known ping on her cell phone was in Pryor near Tractor Supply. Howell said in the course of their investigation the phone has been turned off. He said search efforts will resume Wednesday in the Kenwood Road area.

I'm sorry, I was wrong about this. Pryor is past Salina from her house.

    Snipped...
...OHP troopers said they believe Edwards was speeding, lost control of her vehicle and went into the water.

    Rest In Peace, Amy Edwards.

I guess in spite of her being in Pryor and not at work, they consider this to be an accident.

Damn. I was not expecting that outcome. Is that area not very populated? Kind of surprised a car can crash into a lake in the middle of the day and not be seen by someone. So sad...

Maybe it was still dark at 7:40 am?

    RIP Amy.

If she and her car went into the lake early that morning, how is it that her cell phone was pinged at 1:30pm? Wouldn't one assume her phone would stop working once immersed in water and if not working then how could it be pinged? There just seems something sort of 'off' to me about this case. Also, if she left her home that morning at 7:30am and she called hubby reportedly at 7:38am to say she was "in town".........where was "in town" in relation to where her car was found in the lake? And isn't it kind of odd to call one's hubby within minutes of leaving the house that early in the morning?

I am glad to see it "appears" it was not a suicide. Seems to be far too many of them lately.
