'It's what we signed up to do,' officers say of saving woman in fire
Police officers dash into burning Webster home
UPDATED 6:52 PM EST Dec 30, 2015
[...]
Officers James Young, Robert LaRochelle and Spencer Donovan saved several residents from the burning home on Granite Street. They also ran back into the home when they learned a woman was still inside.
LaRochelle and Donovan were first to arrive at the fire.
As soon as I opened (the door) I got hit with smoke and heat, and I just dropped to the ground,
LaRochelle said. I couldnt even bring myself to speak to tell Officer Donovan that there was someone in there. We both ran back in.
Officer Young then joined in the rescue efforts. The officers said the woman was unconscious, with her leg trapped behind a door.
We had to take turns going in and out, swapping air, Donovan said. At that point, you are not thinking. You are just acting.
