CA - Chansotheavy Young, 29, San Diego, 4 January 2016

    Chansotheavy Young

Missing San Diego woman speaks little English

"San Diego police asked for the public’s help Friday to find a missing 29-year-old woman.

Chansotheavy Young was last seen leaving a friend’s house in San Diego on Monday, according to the San Diego police.

Young lives in the eastern part of San Diego and a possible destination for her is Everett, Washington, according to police. Young was not scheduled to leave San Diego and took no personal belongings with her when she left."

Before you criticize someone, you should walk a mile in their shoes. That way, when you criticize them, you're a mile away and you have their shoes.

"When from a long distant past nothing persists, after the people are dead, after things are broken and scattered, still alone, more persistent, more faithful, the smell and taste of things remain poised a long, long time like souls, ready to remind us, waiting, hoping for their moment amid the ruins of all the rest, and bear unfaltering in the tiny and almost impalpable drop of their essence the vast structure of recollection."

On New Year’s Eve, Chansotheavy Young sang traditional Cambodian music, wowing a crowd gathered at Lee's Garden in San Diego.

Four days later, the 29-year-old woman vanished.

Surveillance video captured the last time she was seen leaving the Allied Gardens home where she had been staying with her manager Lim Cheang and his family. It was around 8 a.m. on Jan. 4.

“Maybe someone took her and kidnapped her,” said a worried Cheang. “That’s why I called the cops.”

Suitcases full of clothes, her purses and other belongings are still in the room where the entertainer stayed.

Cheang’s concern for Young’s whereabouts started around 10 or 11 a.m. Monday when she didn't answer her door to take a call from a male friend on the East Coast.

Her cellphone was turned off, triggering Cheang to check the security camera at this home and start a neighborhood search with his friend.

“We looked around again and again, two or three times,” said friend Son Taing.

Young has been in the U.S. on a visa since September, touring the country to give Cambodian communities a taste of home.

It is very odd. When I try to think of why a 29 yr old walks out of the home at 8 am, only a few things come to mind.

One, she is going to get a coffee/tea/muffin and wants a nice morning walk. But it is odd that she didn't take her phone and didn't leave a note. If I am a guest at someone's home I usually leave a quick note when I leave their home.

Or, she was just taking a quick walk. I wonder what she was wearing? Walking shoes?

Was she maybe meeting someone? I kind of doubt it because she didn't take her phone.

It is a very odd situation. If she had taken her phone then I might think she was meeting someone for coffee and they kidnapped her.

Well, I found this on Facebook regarding Chansotheavy, though the message isn't coming from the San Diego PD (but does thank them). From 14 hours ago:

Wow, she sang to a packed house at Lee's Garden on New Year's Eve! The video shows her leaving the Allied Gardens home. She didn't take her phone or purse, but at least, she's wearing a coat. I haven't heard any updates on the news here. Hope she's found soon.
