Berkeley police looking for missing at-risk woman

BERKELEY (KRON) —
"Berkeley police are looking for an at-risk missing woman, who is a student at UC Berkeley, police said.

Twenty-two-year-old Shuqin Zhang, an Asian woman, was last seen on Jan. 7 at around 1:30 a.m. in Berkeley.

Police think she may have gone to Bodega Bay at around 3:40 a.m on Jan. 7.

She is a Cal graduate student who has been depressed and out of character lately, police said. Police said she may be suicidal.

Zhang was supposed to fly to China Friday morning, but police said she did not board her flight.'

Thanks Cricket! There are comments under both of those links you pointed out...

So her friend(s) posted that she was not depressed and as far as they knew she was celebrating the holidays with close friends...??

I am a 22-year-old Chinese-born woman and I can relate to feeling like it's a life or death situation when parental expectations are not fulfilled. I failed out of university and was ashamed of it but now realize it was my parents' fault for wasting their money on tuition when I hated what I was forced to study. Asians have such high suicide rates and it needs to be addressed within the culture that death is not the answer.
