AL - new video: unarmed Cameron Massey fatally shot by police

The release of another police video shows officers firing at the unarmed victim of a 2013 police shooting in Eufaula, Ala., while he is seated in the passenger side of a car and attempting to drive it away.

A 26-year-old man named Cameron Massey sat in the passenger’s seat of a car in October 2013 when police officers sprayed him with five fatal shots, another incriminating video originally obtained by Buzzfeed News shows.

The video hadn’t been previously released publicly and casts doubt on earlier claims that the two officers involved in the shooting had acted in self-defense.

Eufaula police officers will not face charges in connection to the shooting death of a man during a traffic stop in October 2013.

At the time of the shooting, Massey was handcuffed and was being charged with marijuana trafficking because seven pounds of the drug was found in his trunk.

On the day Cameron Massey was laid to rest, a preliminary autopsy report shows the 26-year-old Columbus man died of multiple gunshot wounds during a traffic stop Oct. 15 in Eufaula, Ala.

Barbour County Coroner Chip Chapman said the cause of Massey’s death was multiple gunshots in the report released Wednesday. “It doesn’t say the location or anything like that,” the coroner said.

Massey was a passenger in a car that was stopped by police at 431 South Wrecker Service in Eufaula, authorities said. No details have been released in the 4:40 p.m. CDT shooting other than Massey was fatally shot by police during the traffic stop.

Investigator Ralph A. Conner shot Bobby Joe Sales of Montgomery in the back at 11:35 Saturday night, Chief Charles Swindall of the police said.
