A man posing as a door-to-door salesman is in jail for allegedly raping a developmentally delayed woman. Des Moines Police say the attack happened Sunday night. The victim is a 28-year-old woman with Down Syndrome.

"To meet my daughter is to know she is a very vulnerable person," the woman's mother told KOMO 4 News.

The mom, who asked to not be identified, says she left their home for a few minutes to run errands. That's when a man came to the door promising to give the daughter magazines.

The daughter let him in and says she was raped moments later.

"She's certainly been harmed," the woman's mother said. "She's a very vulnerable person and she's been hurt."

Neighbors say the same man had been walking through their neighborhood for several days.
