They said he was "a keen and active walker and enjoys country and forestry trails", adding it may be "possible that he may have tried to walk home to Balfron".

Police said that the last confirmed sighting of Mr Miller had been at the BP Garage in Main Street, Jamestown, Alexandria, at about 00:20 hours on Thursday 7 January.

He had spent most of the evening in Fenton's Bar, which is located on the same road.

Earlier on 6 January, Mr Miller was spotted on CCTV within Tesco in Milngavie at about 13:15.

During the new conference, Ch Insp Graeme MacDiarmid revealed that officers had received two further unconfirmed sightings of Mr Miller in the Bonhill and Balloch areas.

The Balloch sighting was on the evening of 8 January in the Balloch Road area.

William is originally from West Dunbartonshire, knows the area well and is known to frequent the Milngavie, Balloch and Alexandria areas, including local footpaths and forest walks. He does not drive and regularly uses public transport to get around.
“As a result of our enquiries, we understand that William may have connections in the Dunoon area, and may have travelled there, so I would urge anyone in the Dunoon area to study William’s photograph and contact police if they think they’ve seen him. I’d ask specifically for dog walkers to keep an eye out for him, as he is known to frequent local hillwalking sites and local landmarks such as the Stuckie Bridge. "Our last confirmed sighting of William was at the BP garage in Main Street, Jamestown, Alexandria around 0020 hours on Thursday 7 January 2016 after being seen in Fentons Public House where he spent most of the evening, which is located on the same road. We’ve had no other positive sightings since.

I hope he hasn't tried walking home as suggested above.

According to google maps, that's about 13 miles.

Especially after maybe having had a few drinks.

This isn't near Stirling at all. He stays in Balfron which is Stirlingshire but went missing in West Dunbartonshire.

There has been lots of rain and snow recently so the river Leven would be swollen.

Known as Billy to family and friends, he got a bus to Milngavie and a train to Alexandria on the Wednesday and was in Fentons pub in Jamestown before the last sighting on CCTV.

His family described him as a keen walker and believe he may have been trying to walk home to Balfron in the Stirling Council area - about 15 miles away.

Police searches have focused along the River Leven, with divers and kayak teams used to search the water. No trace has been found and a police helicopter has also joined the search.

Mr Miller is described as fit and healthy, and has regularly worked outdoors.

Police say there are no suspicious circumstances and officers are now checking two possible sightings in Balloch and Bonhill.

No news, but a renewed appeal and (I think) a new picture:

He said: "It has now been one month since William went missing and I can't stress enough how important information from members of the public is to our investigation.

"I would continue to appeal anyone who may have seen William over the past month to come forward.

"Particularly if you were in Fentons Public House on the evening of 6 January and have not provided a statement to police, we want to hear from you to ensure we have as much information as possible about the night William was last seen."

RIP, Billy.

Hopefully this apparently beloved man did not suffer, sad for his family, but glad Mr Miller has been located.
