Several Clues but No Answers in 2012 Disappearance of Cort Jones - Dateline Cold Case Spotlight; Jan. 10, 2016

Cort, who was 23 at the time of his disappearance, was last seen by his mother, Sandra Dietrich, on August 16, 2012.

According to a Redding Police Department press release, Cort had called his mom for a ride home from a friend's. When Sandra showed up to get Cort, he was gone.

According to Sandra, Cort was preparing to move to Chico, California to go to college.

On the afternoon of the day her son vanished, Sandra had encouraged him to come home and prepare for his move to Chico. Cort was trying to sell some of his BMX bikes to come up with money for rent. He then headed to his friend's house for a few hours.

When Sandra showed up and Cort was not there, she immediately began worrying about what may have happened to him. She say she began searching that night, calling her son's friends and knocking on doors.

But Cort was simply gone.

Remember his face from MP sites. It's been so long...I hope his mother will get answers soon.

He has such a nice smile. His poor family, having him just disappear without any evidence. I wonder if he arranged to meet someone with regard to selling the bikes and that person knows something about his disappearance.

Very interesting, however ive seen it many times where different agencies unfortunately have incorrect information. :(

This story, I just wish we had answers for. My Father works with his Stepfather, and I know the toll it's taking on their family. I do know that Cort had somewhat of an at-risk past with some drug issues, but he cleaned himself up and had been accepted to California State University - Chico, which is about 45 minutes Southeast of Redding. The thing that gets me is how he called his mom, asked for a ride, and then within a matter of 15 minutes was just gone, vanished into thin air. No trace of him to this day. Something weird did happen though the other day up here, the news had mentioned a skull being found around mid-July, but they announced it shortly before they posted an article about Cort. I will link those both at the bottom.
