23 Year-Old Man Last Seen on Christmas Eve Still Missing: Family

    Chicago, Illinois -
A South Side family is asking for the public’s help in the search for their son who was last seen on Christmas Eve.

Iaron Brooks, 23, went missing Dec. 24 from the city’s Avalon Park neighborhood near 81st and Avalon, according to family. Friends of Brooks told the family that between noon and 1 p.m., he was seen getting into a car with a group of unknown men.
“There's nothing that I can do but to plead and ask somebody that knows something to help me and give me my son,” Bonnette Jernigan, Brooks’ mother, said.

Other than a couple of cryptic and anonymous phone calls that did not lead anywhere, the family has heard nothing on the whereabouts of Brooks.

"When from a long distant past nothing persists, after the people are dead, after things are broken and scattered, still alone, more persistent, more faithful, the smell and taste of things remain poised a long, long time like souls, ready to remind us, waiting, hoping for their moment amid the ruins of all the rest, and bear unfaltering in the tiny and almost impalpable drop of their essence the vast structure of recollection."

A man was found dead near Avalon Park on the South Side more than a month after someone first called police to report seeing his body there, authorities said.

    [...]

City police K-9 units were called to the park, but the body wasn't found at that time.

About 12:15 p.m. Tuesday, the man's mother called police and said she had found her son's body by the tennis courts at the far southwest end of the park, near abandoned railroad tracks, a police source said.

Reminds me of when they found Mike Kimsey's body, in an area they already searched

Nothing surprises me when it comes out of good ol' Chicago anymore. Makes me wonder if they even searched at all. My heart goes out to him and his mother. No mom should have to find their own child like that.

Jernigan said her son was looking forward to getting his job back after Christmas.

"He cried and prayed a couple of days before he went missing and told me that if God would just give him his job back so he could get an apartment again," she said. "God did ... less than 30 minutes later he got a call he was rehired."

Jernigan, a mother of eight, five of whom were adopted, is now trying to figure out how to bury her youngest son. (...)

"He was too trustworthy of people. He wasn't a dirty or devious person," Jernigan said. "He wasn't squeaky clean, but he never harmed anyone. At 10, he would change his father's diaper, who was dying of cancer. He had a good, helpful and loving spirit."
Wow, what a tragedy...Thinking of his loved ones. RIP.

The body of a missing 23-year-old Chicago man reportedly has been found after his mother received an anonymous tip directing her to a local park.

    [...]

"Before I could get up to the gate of the tennis court, my brother told me, 'Don’t come back there,' because he found something," she told the local TV station. "He was covered, but we saw his gym shoes. We saw his belt."

So police got a tip within days of him being reported missing that a body was in this park. They go, search, do not find the body. One month later this young man's mom gets an anonymous tip telling her to look for his body at the same park. She goes with family members and there is the body. She mentions he was covered. I wonder if he was covered when the initial tipster to LE found him or if that person covered him somehow as a respectful gesture.

And if the body continued to be there after the initial tipster reported it, why did that tipster not call back to say "hey, its right there by the dang tennis court guys! Go back and look again"

Do we have two tipsters or one who got tired of waiting for LE to find the body already and therefore called his mom directly?
