NY - Carlos Rivera, 19, Glen Cove, 3 February 2016

    http://patch.com/new-york/glencove/1...ported-missing

Glen Cove police are asking the public to help locate a 19-year-old Glen Cove man who has been reported missing since Tuesday.

Carlos Rivera’s mother last saw her son when he left his Glen Cove home Tuesday at 2 p.m. He told her he was going to school, according to police.

New York Institute of Technology in Old Westbury was contacted and confirmed that Carlos never attended class that day, or since, and his family has not heard from Carlos since his disappearance.

His family is worried about him and say he is a top student and has never gone missing in the past.

Police say Carlos is operating a blue 2005 Jeep Wrangler with a NY license plate of ‪#‎HCF‬-3987.

If anyone has information regarding Carlos Rivera please contact Detective McDonnell or Detective Lieutenant John Nagle at the Glen Cove Police Department at (516)-676-1002.

    Snip

Alamo says her son is a smart and athletic young man who was the captain of the basketball and track teams at Glen Cove High School. He is now a sophomore aerospace and aeronautical engineering major at NYIT. Alamo says she's worried that Rivera may have had too much on his plate recently. Last semester, he was enrolled in seven classes, held a job on campus and was a member of his school's robotics club.
Alamo said her son took his pillow, blanket and a tablet with him. She says she believes Rivera is alive, but maybe just needed to get away for a while. She wants him to know that she'll be home, waiting for him.

The license plate on Rivera's Jeep is HCF-3987. Anyone with information that can help Glen Cove police is asked to call 516-676-1002.

I'm thinking the same thing! I don't know how he was keeping up with all of that!
Carlos, please contact someone and let them know you're ok, everyone needs a break every once in awhile and there's nothing wrong with that, but please don't keep your family wondering about your wellbeing!

That's a lot to handle for anyone, adult or 19 years old. I'd be interested to know if all of this comes easy to him (for some it does) or whether there's external pressure on him to be so "involved" and "busy". Sometimes I think there is far too much pressure on our kids to excel at everything.

"Alamo said her son took his pillow, blanket and a tablet with him" I find this slightly reassuring, taking "creature comforts" with him.

Carlos, I hope you're just taking a time-out. Please don't think life has to be so stuffed-full and if you can't cope then make a change - nobody will think bad of you for doing so (and if they do then they are not worth your time or emotions!) Be safe young man!

    Took a pillow and blanket???

I'm hoping he just needed to get away. Sounds like a guy with a good head on his shoulders. Independent. Ambitious. Bright.
