GUILTY MI - Carter Donovan, 8 mos, beaten to death, Hartford, 19 Feb 2016

Who lets a man like this watch their child? Yes, I feel sad for the parents. But in my opinion, they should be charged with something.

Since 2004, Beshires was charged with 15 felonies and 7 misdemeanors, according to court records. Some of those were dismissed.
In 2010, Beshires was charged with four counts of child abuse, all felonies.
He was sentenced to 365 days in prison on one of the counts. In court on Monday, an attorney said two children were removed from his care as a result of that case.

I am still trying to figure out if he was really the mom's boyfriend or what. We can't discuss FB here but it seems like the parents are together so I don't really know who Brandon was to them.

Autumn Atchley, of Hartford, Michigan, is charged with being an "accessory after the fact" in connection to the death of her son, Carter Donovan...

It's alleged that Atchley arrived at the hospital and gave police false information about Beshires' identity and lied about who had access to Carter while she was at her appointment.

Berrien County mom sentenced for role in son's murder

Autumn Atchley was tearful Monday afternoon as a Berrien County judge sentenced her for her role in the murder of her 8-month-old son.

“I regret the trust that I put in him because I lost my son because of that,” Atchley said, referring to her ex-boyfriend Brandon Beshires.

Atchley pleaded emotionally with Judge Arthur Cotter Monday afternoon.

Cotter said he could not understand why, during the last year of court hearings, Atchley didn’t do everything she could to prove Beshires was solely responsible for her son’s death.

“I want the S-O-B, who killed my little kid, smashed his head so hard, he fractured the skull in that bathroom,” Cotter said, speaking to Atchley as if he were her. “I want him held responsible. And you know what? I’ll do anything, I’ll testify against him. I’ll get out and point the finger at him – he was the one who did it, I was scared then cause he threatened me, but I want him held responsible for the death of the most precious thing in my life, my son.”

“I didn’t hear [you say] that,” Cotter said, speaking to Atchley after saying the aforementioned paragraph. “I don’t understand why not!”

He then sentenced Atchley to 240 days in prison and three years of probation.

Atchley’s new attorney said her client is a victim, and she plans to respond to the judge’s decision because she said Atchley told her previous attorney she was willing to testify against Beshires.

High court won't hear Beshires' appeal in murder case
The Michigan Supreme Court will not hear the case of a man serving a life prison sentence for killing a baby in 2016.

The state Court of Appeals denied an appeal earlier, and the higher court will not review the case. Brandon Beshires, 34, is serving a mandatory life prison sentence with no chance for parole in the Feb. 19, 2016, death of 8-month-old Carter Donovan.
