    Ademola Owolana

BRITISH TOURIST, 26, MISSING FROM FAR SOUTH SIDE

South Side of Chicago, Illinois -
Chicago police say a 26-year-old British tourist is missing. Ademola Owolana was last seen on Chicago's far south side.

Owolana's family says he was last seen Saturday night outside Club Low Key at 117th and Michigan. A friend says Owolana was with another person at the club, stepped outside to smoke a cigarette at about 4am and never returned.

The family is asking anyone who may have seen Owolana or has any information about his whereabouts to call Chicago police.

Before you criticize someone, you should walk a mile in their shoes. That way, when you criticize them, you're a mile away and you have their shoes.

"When from a long distant past nothing persists, after the people are dead, after things are broken and scattered, still alone, more persistent, more faithful, the smell and taste of things remain poised a long, long time like souls, ready to remind us, waiting, hoping for their moment amid the ruins of all the rest, and bear unfaltering in the tiny and almost impalpable drop of their essence the vast structure of recollection."

When I lived there they used to close the bars at 3 am. I hope he's found safe quickly..

Owolana is described as a black man, 5 ft. 5 in. and 140 lbs. with a fade haircut. He was last seen wearing a burgundy shirt, blue jeans, a dark green jacket, a baseball cap and a gold chain with a Versace pendant. He also has three tattoos: "Family First" on his left arm, "Loyalty" on his shoulder and a musical note on his right upper arm.

What would a "tourist" be doing in Pullman?

There are wonderful people in Pullman, but outside of Englewood, it's probably the most oft-mentioned neighborhood for gun violence in Chicago ... It is not a "tourist" area. That's why I'm mentioning.

Ademola Owolana was visiting family in the city. They said he went out to a club with friends Friday night and left angry because he could not drive in the United States.

"He said he was ready to leave. 'Give me the car keys.' My cousin said, 'I can't give you the car keys. You're not from here. You can't drive while you're in this country.' He said, 'No, no, no. Just give me the keys.' He said, 'No, I'll open the car door for you. You can sit down while I call my friend and let him know that we're leaving now,'" said Sabi Folawiyo, Owolana's cousin.

He was last seen around 4 a.m. Saturday outside Club Low Key near East 117th Street and South Michigan Avenue in Chicago's West Pullman neighborhood.

    Oh dear!
Has he perhaps stormed away after being denied the car key? And not being from the area got lost? Perhaps he's injured. Or disorientated? So sad.

I had the same question. I'd like to know what brought him to that neighborhood. I hope this doesn't end up badly.

I don't think this is going to end well. He was visiting family from the burbs and ends up foolishly drunk and leaves..... Very sad. I'd almost hope he was picked up by the cops and is in Cook County jail waiting to be bailed out. It's better than some of the slternatives.

Chances of this ending well are nil. Wish I didn't have to put it like that ... I typically wouldn't wish the Cook County Jail on anyone, but I'd take it over the medical examiner's office.

He was visiting family in southwest suburban Plainfield for a few weeks. He was supposed to return to London on Thursday.

Relatives who have been canvassing the West Pullman neighborhood since he disappeared.

His mother said he went to south suburban Glenwood Friday night to get a tattoo. Later, he went to a club on Chicago's Far South Side with family.

Owolana was last seen around 4:30 a.m. Saturday outside Club Low Key near East 117th Street and South Michigan Avenue in the city's West Pullman neighborhood.

One of his relatives said he became aggressive at the club and demanded his car keys, but he would not hand them over because Owolana can't legally drive in the United States and he had been drinking.

When Owolana could not get the car keys, he took jogged off east on 117th Street and has not been seen since.

Owolana's mother says he has no ID on him; she has his passport and his cell phone, which cannot make calls in the U.S.

The family is offering a $5,000 reward for information leading to Owolana.

Is it a possibility he didn't want to leave for London as planned and this is a ruse? What's the vibe people are getting from the story?
