After a massive search was launched, the girl was found dead Sunday afternoon in a large field behind her home.

My thoughts turn to the parents . . .

Unimaginable their shock, horror and pain right now.

Isabella's body was found dead in a large field behind her home, according to BCSO. It's unclear what led investigators to Isabella's brother.

The statement from Bay County Sheriff Frank McKeithen says that investigators soon developed Fredrick Matthew Lochridge, Isabella’s 16-year-old brother, as the suspect in the child's slaying.

No further details on the case were immediately available, but the sheriff’s office was expected to release more information later today.

The contents of Lochridge's Facebook page suggest that the 16-year-old has a fascination with the military, particularly the US Marine Corp, and knows his way around firearms.

Interesting how the DM makes note of his familiarity with firearms. I don't believe we have been told the COD yet have we? I am not reading too much into the affinity with the military and familiarity with firearms. To me it seems like they are leaping on that rather quickly.

What a tragic case of another young life so senselessly taken.

I know we shouldn't speculate but I cant help but think he may have been molesting/raping his young sister and she told him she was going to tell or maybe this is the first time he tried it. I hope I am wrong though.

Prayers for the family.

so sad

Again an incredibly sad situation that shouldn't have happened .... and the parents lost both kids.

The arrest affidavit says Lochridge admitted to shooting his sister with a .22 after 3:00 a.m. after mistaking her for a deer. He later said it was an accident and he thought someone was attacking her. In a third statement he said he was trying to teach her how to use the rifle and accidentally shot her in the chest. When she started making gurgling noises he said, "I didn't know exactly how to deal with that, so I shot her again."

""About four or five years ago, one of our deputies discovered a family living there in a house," he said. "There was about six kids, and a man and woman actually living there. The living conditions were absolutely horrible. It was freezing cold, not a lot of heat. We actually took a bunch of the deputies up and worked on the house and tried to get it to where they could have some heat and water and things of that nature."

Sheriff McKeithen confirmed Isabella's family is the same family deputies worked with in the past."

Anyone have a link to his FB page?

This is so sad. And his changing stories are very odd.

Also from that link....(yikes)...

Officials said the mother, Michelle Lochridge, is currently incarcerated. St. Lucie County court records show she was convicted of accessory after the fact to second degree murder with a firearm.

"I can tell you this, the 15-year-old boy was not your typical 15-year-old kid that you would see everyday on the street," Sheriff McKeithen said. "He was a hard core kid. He lied. He was deceitful. He screamed. He cursed. He was like interviewing a 30-year-old murderer when we talked to him."

Officials have not ruled out sexual battery as well. The Medical Examiner's Office is performing an autopsy Monday.

From your link.....

The report says Lochridge then moved Isabella's body, cleaned her body and changed her clothes into a white dress. He then hid the rifle, later telling investigators where it was located.

I'm not sure how to link to an FB from my phone since I use the app, but when I searched Fredrick Lochridge he was the first to come up. His profile pic is an angry looking teen in a camo jacket, and his cover pic is US Marine Corps.

He cleaned her and changed her clothes? This is getting way too creepy to me.

I guess the gun thing was pretty relevant. :(.

Lather, rinse, repeat. Another dead child.
