UK - Baby boy, 9 wks, Telford, 24 Feb 2016

child may be in the company of a 5ft 5in white woman with dyed reddish brown hair, which she wore off her face.
She is also thought to have a lump under her nose and a gap between her front teeth. She is believed to be between 30 and 40 years of age.

Hmmmm ....

Wow, I live in the area and I hadn't even heard about this!

Ha, I'd been commenting about this on the wrong thread :shame:

Glad he's been found. It reminded me of baby Alexandra Griffiths, kidnapped from maternity hospital for 17 days in 1990. I just had a google and found updates as I know some of you will remember the case well - bless her poor mum, life changed forever for her.

Kelly Mahon, 41, was arrested with another woman after the baby disappeared on Wednesday afternoon.
He was located safe and well about three hours later.
Ms Mahon, of John Broad Avenue, Arleston, was remanded in custody at Telford magistrates on Friday.
She will appear at Shrewsbury Crown Court on Friday 25 March.
A 53-year-old woman was released without charge.

Scary!

Childless woman, 41, kidnapped baby boy after telling his mother her husband had been in a car crash to lure her out of family home

A childless woman who pleaded guilty to kidnapping a nine-week-old baby boy from his family faces jail.

Kelly Mahon, 41, snatched the two-month-old tot, who cannot be named for legal reasons, from his family home on February 24.

A court heard she knocked on the door and told the mother that her husband has been in a road accident and was lying unconscious in the street.

Mahon, who had made contact with the mother before at a bus stop, then offered to look after the children while she went to find her injured partner.

But when the mother returned to her home in Arleston, Telford, Shropshire, after realising there was no accident, she was left 'hysterical' and 'beside herself' when she found her child had been abducted....

... a 'to-do' list was found at Mahon's home which made reference to sterilisers, nappies and milk.So the inference is further children being kidnapped or other victims being targeted had this offence been committed.

Hmmmm there's one thing majorly wrong with that report - She's not "childless" - she has a teenage daughter. A teenager who thought she was going to be a big sister at last, a teenager who is probably suffering the most out of this sorry state of affairs.

Is it definitely her daughter by birth? Looks like this is going to fit into the category of a woman who has lied about a pregnancy then stealing a baby to fit in with their story. Usually it seems to be to keep a man, is this not the case on this occasion? Was she motivated to do it because her daughter really wanted a little brother or sister?

If she had been pretending to be pregnant (rather than claiming she was adopting) then the list of baby things wouldn't seem so odd I guess.

I live locally, so far as I'm aware it's her daughter by birth.

Thanks. And rereading my post I think I ought to clarify to everybody that I wasn't implying she'd stolen her teeenage daughter as a baby too(in case it read that way)but sometimes people end up bringing up relative's children or the chidlren of ex partners.

Ah there's amore accurate write up here than the Daily Mail one:

"A woman today admitted kidnapping a baby from his parents’ home after staging a fake pregnancy.

Kelly Mahon told her family and friends she was expecting a baby with her partner.

Pals said the 41-year-old even tricked her teenage daughter into believing she was pregnant.

She kept up the ruse for nine months - and then kidnapped another mum’s baby around her fake due date."

And that oh so familiar motive

"One pal even claimed Mahon, who used to own a pet store, told her boyfriend she was pregnant to stop him leaving her.

The friend, who did not want to be named, told the Mirror: “Kelly tricked everyone, even her own daughter.

“She thought she was going to be a big sister. Kelly had bought all the baby stuff and had it ready in the house.

“Her boyfriend was going to leave her so she lied and said she was expecting his baby."
