Former Burton aide, a sex offender, held several state jobs

New Hampshire Executive Councilor Ray Burton is not the only one to have given a job to a man convicted as a child sex offender. State personnel records show Mark Seidensticker has worked for the state Department of Transportation and the state Liquor Commission.

Seidensticker, a former Burton campaign aide, was convicted of attempted sexual assault on a teenage boy in 1991. That didn't stop him from getting a job as a toll attendant in 1994 and as a clerk at a state liquor store in 2001.

Just when I think that I have seen the most depraved things a human can do to another human, somebody posts a new story...........

Why is it that when a custodial parent fails to provide for a child it is called neglect and is a criminal matter. But when a non custodial parent fails to provide it is called failure to support and is a civil matter?

A convicted child sex offender who worked as a campaign aide for the executive councilor, Ray Burton, also has held jobs with the state, according to state personnel records.

The man, Mark Seidensticker, was convicted of attempted sexual assault on a teenage boy in 1992. That did not stop him from getting jobs with the state Department of Transportation in 1994 and the state Liquor Commission in 2001, according to the New Hampshire Union Leader.

The state liquor commissioner, Patricia Russell, said the commission had not begun background checks on employees until about four years ago.

Seidensticker is awaiting trial, after police say he tried to pick up a teenage boy in Concord.

Personnel records released by the state Friday show that Seidensticker had worked as a toll attendant for the Transportation Department for more than three years, and as a state liquor store clerk from November 2001 to March 2002.

Records did not appear to say how Seidensticker got the jobs, or why he had left.
