    AL - Ashley Taylor, 16, Birmingham, 4 March 2016

    Ashley "Kookie" Taylor

    CCHS student missing since Friday

    Birmingham, Alabama -
Ashley Taylor, known as Kookie to her family and friends, is a 16-year-old ninth grader at Clay-Chalkville High School and she hasn’t been seen since Friday afternoon.

Taylor’s mother, Debra Gurholt, said she was last seen close to Galloway and Vick Drive near Grayson Valley Country Club walking home from her bus stop around 4:30

p.m. on Friday. She has been reported missing to the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office, according to Gurholt.

Gurholt said her daughter may be wearing jeans, possibly with Timberland boots or black below the knee boots, but she wasn’t sure of the shirt she may have on.

Her mother reports that she may have been seen outside Jack’s on Chalkville Road. She has had no communication with family or friends since a 4:45 p.m. Snapchat on

    Friday.

Gurholt said that while it’s possible that her daughter ran away, it doesn’t lessen her concern or fear.

“(There is a) possibility she has ran away, from conversations from her friends,” Gurholt said. “But I’m scared she’s in danger because they’re all saying they don’t know

    where she is.”

Taylor’s outgoing personality also gives her family concern that she may have met someone they don’t know.

Before you criticize someone, you should walk a mile in their shoes. That way, when you criticize them, you're a mile away and you have their shoes.

"When from a long distant past nothing persists, after the people are dead, after things are broken and scattered, still alone, more persistent, more faithful, the smell and taste of things remain poised a long, long time like souls, ready to remind us, waiting, hoping for their moment amid the ruins of all the rest, and bear unfaltering in the tiny and almost impalpable drop of their essence the vast structure of recollection."

Surveillance video shows missing teen from CCHS getting in a gold Grand Marquis
Surveillance cameras captured images of Ashley Taylor leaving the Jack’s Restaurant on Chalkville Road with two white males on Friday evening, according to her mother,

    Debra Gurholt.

“Most of the tips that we received led us nowhere,” Carol Sharit, a family friend, said. “I did get to watch surveillance video from Jacks Restaurant that showed Ashley in their

lobby until she was picked up by an older, gold Grand Marquis, but no one recognizes the car. The CVS cameras across the street shows that car going to the light and turning

left onto Chalkville Mountain Road, but due to the brightness of the sun, the tag was unreadable.”

Sharit said Taylor was wearing her backpack in the video which was time stamped at 5:10 p.m. on Friday.
