This is the Bosma murder trial daily discussion thread. The trial daily discussion thread is for discussion of trial evidence/testimony only, not for general discussion, posts about past threads, other members, etc. Off-topic posts will be removed.

Note: Only testimony that is published through MSM reporting (articles and tweets) is allowed. Keep discussion focused on testimony as it becomes public knowledge and remember to link up to MSM reporting of same.

Any testimony that might remain under Publication Ban, and any courtroom discussion that takes place when the jury is not present, is strictly off-limits. Posts that violate a Publication Ban, or discussion when the jury is absent, will be removed.

At all times, keep in mind Websleuths TOS, so affectionately referred to as The Rules.

There will be ZERO TOLERANCE for snarky or disrespectful posts and/or subtle digs at other members. Mods will not be PMing you with explanations, you will find your post has disappeared, or that you can no longer post.

There is to be NO name calling or name variations, not even of the accused.

There is to be no BICKERING between members. A difference of opinion is NOT a TOS violation. Some will think one or both of the accused are guilty, some will think one or both are not guilty, and some will be on the fence. All of that is okay and should NOT BE ATTACKED. If you disagree, that's fine, move past the post. If a post is offensive, alert it and let the Mods review it. If you respond to the post, both the offensive post AND yours will be removed and may result in other consequences.

Other reminders for reference as we have respectful discussion in each of the daily trial discussion threads:

Abuse of the WS Alert feature can have consequences including timeout or worse. Such abuse includes, but is not limited to:

• Overuse of the alert system

• Repeatedly alerting on the same poster

• Demanding a specific outcome

• Alerting on the same post more than once

Once you have alerted on a post, please move on without discussing it, and don't question the decisions of our Administrators, Moderators or Owners, and don't expect personalized responses with explanations about a particular decision.

The principle of “innocent until proven guilty” is for the court room … it is not required that Websleuths members adhere to that principle. Members are allowed to discuss, speculate, theorize, and judge according to opinions they develop from following the specifics of the case.

If you have any questions, PM a Mod and we will be happy to assist you. The main Mods/Admin for this trial will be Bessie, Coldpizza, and sillybilly.

Tim Bosma trial: More testimony from blood spatter expert
CBC News Posted: Mar 07, 2016

tim-bosma.jpg

Tim Bosma was last seen on May 6, 2013, and was missing for more than a week before remains thought to be his were found on an Ayr, Ont., farm owned by Dellen Millard. ((Facebook))

Jurors will hear more evidence Monday from a blood spatter expert who will discuss forensic evidence discovered during the investigation into the death of Hamilton's Tim Bosma.

On Thursday, the lawyers representing the two men accused of killing Bosma spent most of the day arguing with each other in court, as the location of a key piece of evidence in the case — a bullet casing found in Bosma's truck — showed a sharp divide between them.

Could get there from power washing off blood on truck, or spraying up from moving tires or from ground. #Bosma

Lisa Hepfner ‏@HefCHCHNews 21s21 seconds ago
Blood spatter expert now back on the stand. Photos of #Bosma truck on court screens. Blood had been washed off before a drive, he says.

Looking at stains found on lower rear passenger side of the quarter panel. #Bosma

Susan Clairmont ‏@susanclairmont 14s15 seconds ago
"Many in this area?" asks Crown Tony Leitch. Jones agrees...also spatter on passengers' side step rail. Maybe from power washing.

Susan Clairmont ‏@susanclairmont 28s28 seconds ago
Appears to be water marks on the chrome as well, he says.

molly hayes ‏@mollyhayes 12s12 seconds ago
Says could have been sprayed there from power washer. Or could have been cast off from tires moving through. #Bosma

Back at the courthouse this morning for the first day of the Tim Bosma trial this week. Follow along for updates.

Mar 7 2016 9:54 AM
Blood spatter expert Sgt. Robert Jones testified Thursday afternoon about bloodstains found during the investigation. He'll be back in the witness box this morning.

Mar 7 2016 10:02 AM
Court is now in session. Starting with some legal arguments this morning. No jury yet.

Mar 7 2016 10:10 AM
The jury is now being recalled. Underway momentarily.

Mar 7 2016 10:11 AM
Sgt. Jones is back in the witness box.

Mar 7 2016 10:13 AM
Court now seeing blood stains on the lower rear passenger side quarter panel of the truck, near the rear wheel.

Mar 7 2016 10:14 AM
Jones says it's possible that a hose sprayed blood onto this part of the truck. It's also possible, he says, that during a cleaning process blood and water got onto the tire, and then it spun off as the tire moved.

Mar 7 2016 10:15 AM
Jones has testified that one theory is there was an attempt to clean blood off with a hose, and it sprayed small droplets around.

Mar 7 2016 10:16 AM
Now seeing blood stains on the passenger's side step rail. He says there were "altered" and "spattered" blood stains on this area. An altered stain is one that sometimes one where cleaning was attempted.

Mar 7 2016 10:17 AM
Now seeing an "altered" blood stain on the passenger's side step rail.

molly hayes ‏@mollyhayes 23s23 seconds ago
Next seeing photos of the passenger side step rail -- here he points out 'altered' bloodstains. #Bosma

Susan Clairmont ‏@susanclairmont now
Altered spatter, meaning mixed with other liquid. #Bosma

Susan Clairmont ‏@susanclairmont 59s59 seconds ago
Could also have been left by a shoe, Jones says.

molly hayes ‏@mollyhayes 44s44 seconds ago
Jones says these could have been caused by blood-covered shoe or again that same power wash spray scenario. #Bosma

Colin Butler ‏@ColinButlerCBC 28s28 seconds ago
Sgt Robert Jones of @WRPSToday continues his testimony about blood stain analysis at the #TimBosma trial this morning

Colin Butler ‏@ColinButlerCBC 13s13 seconds ago
He tells the jury blood stains found on the pickup truck side step rail are diluted by water

molly hayes ‏@mollyhayes 42s42 seconds ago
Now looking at drivers side step rail. Again, altered bloodstains. #Bosma

Susan Clairmont ‏@susanclairmont 32s32 seconds ago
Switching to drivers' side step rail. "An altered blood stain." Means something changed appearance of the stain. May be cleanup related.

Colin Butler ‏@ColinButlerCBC 27s27 seconds ago
But he says there's not enough information to say whether they are consistent with cleanup or someone stepping in blood diluted by water

Susan Clairmont ‏@susanclairmont 11s12 seconds ago
Water stains on chrome plus altered blood stain. #Bosma

Colin Butler ‏@ColinButlerCBC 4s5 seconds ago

Adam Carter
Mar 7 2016 10:20 AM
Jones says "it's possible" that a blood covered shoe could put the blood on the step rail. It's also possible that a power washer could have placed it there, he says.

Mar 7 2016 10:20 AM
"The spray can go in all directions," he says.

Mar 7 2016 10:23 AM
Now seeing blood stains on the driver side step rail. These are "altered" stains -- so something has changed the appearance of the stain. Jones says it could be consistent with cleanup.

Mar 7 2016 10:24 AM
There are also water stains on the chrome of the step rail.

Mar 7 2016 10:26 AM
Single stains in a given area make it difficult to discern a pattern, Jones says.

Susan Clairmont ‏@susanclairmont 52s53 seconds ago
Driver's door, bottom. Blood stain circled in gold by Centre of Forensic Sciences. #Bosma

Susan Clairmont ‏@susanclairmont 1m1 minute ago
Passenger front door. Jones circled several blood spots in white (or @HaltonPolice did it at his request.) #Bosma

Susan Clairmont ‏@susanclairmont 13s14 seconds ago
Blood near door handle passenger side are consistent with fingers. #Bosma

Adam Carter
Mar 7 2016 10:28 AM
Now seeing photos of blood stains on the front passenger door.

Mar 7 2016 10:29 AM
"I would suggest this could be caused by somebody's fingers," Jones says. But it lacks the "ridge detail" for him to say with certainty.

Mar 7 2016 10:32 AM
Now more blood stains being shown on the lower passenger door. Many of these are small -- they look like little droplets.

Mar 7 2016 10:33 AM
"When you go through any stain, you're looking for patterns." Without those patterns, it's very difficult to get back to the mechanism that created the stains, Jones says.

Susan Clairmont ‏@susanclairmont 1m1 minute ago
Several more altered stains on passenger front door.

molly hayes ‏@mollyhayes 45s45 seconds ago
Now looking at passenger door. One, at edge of door by handle, looks possibly caused by fingers, Jones says. #Bosma

Susan Clairmont ‏@susanclairmont 25s26 seconds ago
We're going through blood spots on exterior of truck one at a time. #Bosma

Susan Clairmont ‏@susanclairmont 1m1 minute ago

Now moving to interior of truck. #Bosma

Susan Clairmont ‏@susanclairmont 1m1 minute ago
Now starting on interior of #Bosma truck. Transfer blood stains on interior roof by sun visor on driver's side. Touched by something bloody.

Susan Clairmont ‏@susanclairmont 22s23 seconds ago
Blood on interior driver's door above storage pocket.

molly hayes ‏@mollyhayes 25s26 seconds ago
Stain on roof, by drivers side sun visor, looks like a transfer stain, Jones says. #Bosma

Colin Butler ‏@ColinButlerCBC 3s4 seconds ago
Jones says he found a transfer stain on the driver's side visor - where a bloody object came in contact with the roof of the truck cab

Adam Carter
Mar 7 2016 10:34 AM
Now we're looking inside the truck. We're seeing "transfer stains" on the interior roof by the sun visor on the driver's side. A transfer stain comes from something with blood on it coming into contact with a surface.

Mar 7 2016 10:34 AM
Now looking at the storage pocket in the interior driver's door.

Mar 7 2016 10:35 AM
There are three or four spatter blood stains in the door.

Mar 7 2016 10:38 AM
Now seeing more blood stains by the speaker in the driver's door. Jones says they look like spatter.

Mar 7 2016 10:38 AM
Now we're looking at the rear driver's side door.

Mar 7 2016 10:39 AM
Spatter stains were found there, too.

Susan Clairmont ‏@susanclairmont 1m1 minute ago
Some of these blood stains measure just 1 mm. #Bosma

molly hayes ‏@mollyhayes 1m1 minute ago
Now looking at what he says looks like spatter stains on interior drivers door. #Bosma
