The search for an elderly woman missing in the NSW Blue Mountains is expected to enter its fifth day.

Elizabeth O'Pray, 77, went missing from her Medlow Bath home on Monday. Searchers spoke to her on her mobile on Tuesday night and she is believed to have told them she was OK but lost. But rescuers have been unable to make contact with her since.

One hundred people are now involved in the search.

The rescue squad is scouring the area around Peckman's Plateau and the Feribula look-out, south of Katoomba.

Mrs O'Pray is known to take stroke medication, which can cause confusion in some people.

Ms O'Pray is described as being of Caucasian appearance, of thin build with short grey hair.

She is believed to be an olive coloured jacket, jeans and black shoes.

There's been big storms in the area and it's cool and rainy today. I hope she is okay....

Oh no. These colours will be difficult to spot!

There are now 150 people including police, the Rural Fire Service, and the Volunteer Rescue Association involved in the search for Ms O'Pray as fears for her safety grow.

The search of the dense bushland was thorough, police said. The wet weather has had an impact on the search. "Yesterday we had some pretty harsh weather. Unfortunately, we're getting storms nearly every day."

Mrs O'Pray reportedly walked along Grand Canyon Road in Medlow Bath and along a small track leading towards Katoomba

I walked into the local Supermarket today and a Missing Persons Poster for Elizabeth O"Pray was adhered to the counter so it could easily be seen and read by waiting customers.
Today has been overcast with slight rain this morning - I think the evening will be cool with light rain showers between 7pm and 8pm - the rest of the night will be clouded over.

The search of the dense bushland was thorough, police said.
"For example, yesterday a pair of prescription eye glasses was found in remote bushland," Inspector Balatincz said.
"We went to the point of actually ensuring that they didn't belong to Betty. So, that's how thorough the search is actually getting."

I am wondering which track she may have walked down on her regular route to Katoomba - I cannot find a map in the news.
Maybe need to make some enquiries...

I hope there is some news of her very soon - time is marching on - and its turned cold and wet.
Looks like intermittent light rain up until Wednesday, clearing on Thursday.

Gosh, I hope this poor lady is found soon. How terrifying it must have been for her. I think that it will soon turn into a recovery if it's not already.

Yea 10 days out in that age ... not much hope left unfortunately :( Very sad.

Weather report for Sydney regions is hail, rain and damaging winds.
I'm thinking we need a miracle now.

Cyber hugs and prayers for the searchers to locate this sweet lady within hours.

I'm very concerned for Elizabeth as there is a real winter chill in the air last night.

It's 8am and currently 7 degrees at at Medlow Bath. It must have been cold through the night.

bbm - I wonder why that is relevant? Are they suspecting something else than her being simply lost?

There is a good chance that due to the number of visitors and tourists to ánd around the area of the Hydro Majestic Hotel, that someone could have snapped a picture of her - alternatively, if they can produce a timeline of photographs, or if they have no pictures of her it may alert them to Elizabeth's route of travel.
I am wondering if someone offered her a lift if she had walked the highway ....

ETA - there is a bus stop opposite the Hydro Majestic, and a train station (thought the train station should have CCTV)
