88 stone pumpkin!

A German student has broken a European record after growing an 88 stone pumpkin.

German student Martin Reiss with his record-breaking 88-stone pumpkin /Europics

Pumpkin

I'm assuming stone means pounds, cause I don't think you can grow a pumpkin made out of stone. :)

Hi Mushy.... a stone is heavier than a pound - so it's way more than 88lbs.. we need someone to do the math :D

I never heard of a stone in describing what something weighs. Maybe I need to get out more.

A stone is 14 pounds - so that pumpkin was over 1200 pounds!

Thats why I like getting weighed in England... saying your 9 stone sounds much better than 126pounds

They are having the annual pumpkin weigh-off at Half Moon Bay, CA today. Heaviest so far is 1147 lbs. but there is at least one heavier one that hasn't been weighed yet. Stay tuned.
