Authorities search for missing woman in Tazewell County

Officers tell WVVA they have found a vehicle owned by Danielle Pruett around 10 a.m. Friday in a business parking lot off Gov GC Perry Highway near Graham Recreational Park in Bluefield, Virginia.

UPDATED: Police, forensics team searching Bluefield, Va., park for missing woman

According to a press release from Major Harold Heatley, the Tazewell County Sheriff’s Office received a report from the family of a woman they say is missing. The woman, Danielle Pruett, 29, resides just outside of the town of Bluefield, Heatley said. Pruett’s family said that she was last seen Thursday around 2 p.m.

Danielle's sister who has been very active on Facebook in regards to spreading the word about Danielle's disappearance has just posted that her body has been found. Not seeing anything in MSM yet, but it sounds like the family has JUST been informed.
 
Oh no! I'm so sorry to read this. My thoughts and prayers are with her family. Rest in Peace ,Dani... This is so sad...
 
UPDATE: The search for 29-year-old Danielle Pruett is over.

According to Major Harold Heatley with the Tazewell County Sheriff's Office, the search ended Friday evening after law enforcement agencies discovered her body in a remote area right off of Rt. 720 near Bluefield, VA.

A suspect has been interviewed and investigated and is currently in custody at the Southwest Virginia Regional Jail in Tazewell on unrelated charges. As the investigation continues more information will be released.

RIP Danielle. My thoughts are with her family and friends. It's the smallest bit of consolation, but I'm glad to hear they already have a suspect in their sights.

just confirmation on the information above...searching and gathering evidence. no one charged yet. but one is jail since Friday March 18th on unrelated charges.

IMO last seen 2 pm March 17th. Reported missing right after - in danger. found evening of March 18th in the woods off of rt 720. seems amazing they found her so fast. some missing people are never found so at least her loved ones have her. this might not be as easy as it appears. I pray that her fam and friends have a speedy closure as far as the case goes.

Shaun Matthew Wakefield, 32, of Tazewell, has been charged with first-degree murder in the death of Danielle Pruett, 29, of the Bluefield, Va. area, who was reported missing March 17, Commonwealth Attorney Mike Dennis said. [...]

Wakefield is currently on probation for convictions out of Alexandria, Va. for burglary, larceny, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and drug charges. Crouse said Wakefield has "an extensive criminal history."

Crouse said Wakefield's location was being monitored with an ankle bracelet at the time of Pruett's disappearance.

Dennis said Wakefield is facing life in prison, and stated it is too soon to say whether it could become a capital murder case involving the death penalty.

The article also mentions that Pruett and Wakefield knew each other, and that there are no other suspects although the investigation is considered to be ongoing. Wakefield is currently being held without bond.

A man charged with the March 29 homicide of a Bluefield, Va., woman will face the death penalty, prosecutors announced Friday.

A special Tazewell County grand jury returned a true bill indictment against Shaun Matthew Wakefield. The grand jury also returned indictment charges of one count of grand larceny of a motor vehicle and one count of concealing a dead body.

“Based on the continuing investigation surrounding the brutal murder of Danielle Pruett, a young mother of three children, I believe the circumstances of this killing more than justifies the decision to charge Wakefield with capital murder,” Dennis said. “ Wakefield is now facing the death penalty.”

Defense counsel and a hearing date have been set for a Tazewell County man who is now facing the death penalty for the March homicide of a Bluefield, Va. woman.

Wakefield has been appointed the capital defense team with lead counsel, Steven P. Milani from Roanoke, Va., to represent him, the Tazewell County Commonwealth's Attorney Office said in a press release Wednesday. Wakefield's first hearing is now set in Tazewell County Circuit Court early next month (December 7th).

I wonder what his cause of death was? "Illness" is rather vague and he was only 36.

By the way, there's a new "Murder Tapes" episode about the case. It was an insanely stupid murder. He killed her while wearing a police tracking device. Then drove her car all over the county while still wearing the tracker which allowed police to get video images of him from surveillance cameras. Certainly not a well-planned crime.
