Jeff Meyers and his girlfriend Paula had just returned home to the Mirabella Apartments in Everett Friday night when they heard what sounded like a crying baby inside a large trash compactor.

Wow. It is always surprising but after being a member here for awhile... it should not be. I hope he is okay.

"The police arrive and say it sounds like a toy. Paula jumps back in the trash compactor, pulls off what must have been two feet of garbage, about 20 garbage bags, and discovers this brand new newborn child."

OMG! Thank goodness Paula didn't listen to police and write off the sound as a toy.

And yes, WA has a Safe Haven Law but apparently :censored: :censored: people continue to have unprotected sex then decide to discard the unwanted baby in trash containers.

I'm glad the baby is going to be ok. Every time I see one of these stories I always wonder why people don't relinquish the baby according to the safe haven law.

A miracle and on Good Friday. Bless this little guy and Paula for saving him. They should call him Paul.
 
Thank God she was so tenacious, and didn't listen to others opinions. Because of her another precious baby's alive..
 
It's a miracle that this baby is still alive, hope he has a long and happy life.

(...)18-year-old Samantha Carol Houston who was being held in the Snohomish County jail on probable cause for ABANDON OF DEPENDENT PERSONS 2 which is a felony. The judge ordered Houston to not have any contact with anyone under the age of 10 years old or the baby she allegedly abandoned. The Snohomish County Prosecutor’s office will now decide on the filing of formal charges. According to probable cause papers Houston gave birth to the baby in the shower at an apartment on March 25th and told police she panicked and wrapped the baby in a towel and put the newborn in the compactor. She was interviewed and arrested Thursday at Cascade High School.
