Decedent was a natural death at his residence. He was identified visually by his wife, with the ID being confirmed by prints in 2006. However, it was recently discovered that the decedent was living under the fake identity of "Steven A. Mason" for 10+ years. Real identity is unknown.

Tattoos: "Yosemite Sam" tattoo on right posterior forearm; "Tazmanian devil" on left upper forearm; Heart with an arrow on left distal posterior forearm

Scars: 14.5cm scar on lower right anterior leg; 11.5cm linear scar on lower left anterior leg

I don't see any photos on Namus.

Is it possible there's an old mugshot available per arrest info below:

How intriguing. I wonder why no pictures? His wife must have some pictures of him?

Strange, isn't it? I'd certainly think she would have pictures of him.

I can't imagine why no photos are included in the Namus profile. I'd assume they would use a drivers license photo BUT maybe it has something to do with the July 2005 arrest for DUI/suspended license. Maybe he was using a fake "suspended" license?? I'm puzzled.

ETA: There are several pages on this website re: The fake and real Steven Mason.

You can discuss what's there, but due to some of it not being redacted, please don't bring the pages here even tho they are public record. It took a long time for the real one to get everything cleaned up.

:tyou:

Looks like Mr. Mason's information became know to FSAM (Fake Stephen A. Mason) after he lived in Florida in 1991? Any idea when FSAM started to use the identity? Did I read 10 years? 1996 to 2006? When did he & the wife mentioned get married? How long did they know each other prior to the marriage? Where did he work?

We do not have much to go on, here....

The above info I posted says he has "Brown" eyes, but the info on NAMUS says "Blue". Wonder which is correct.

any thoughts on this?????

The time frame seems to fit, the height and weight are within range AND he has one of the tatts! Yeah, there's no mention of the scars or the other tattoo but he could have gotten those after he went missing. The only hesitation I have... is the eyebrows (high arch on Meeks) which doesn't appear to match Fake Mason. But, hey... at my age, I'd be happy if the only thing about me that had fallen in 20 years were my eyebrows ;)

I think he is definitely worth submitting. Good find!

Changing his identity from 'Stephen Meeks' to 'Steven Mason' is an interesting possibility.

The Tasmanian Devil tattoo Meeks had is supposed to have had his initials (SVM) underneath. I don't see any mention of initials on the Mason tattoo, though they could have been removed.

BUT, it sounds like Meeks wanted custody of the three children, and it would be odd if he just completely stopped all contact with them for almost 20 years. Meeks may unfortunately have simply met foul play, due to his desire to divorce his wife and take custody of the children.

could he have just done it to hurt his wife, then changed his mind, thinking he may not be capable of taking care of them, and thought im out of here, to avoid the alimony and child support payment, its a lot of weight on a person let alone a divorce.

Theodore Conrad. Fugitive from Cleveland, Ohio bank robbery 1960s.

Could the fake mason really have been about ten years older? I don't know why I always look to fugitives first in these cases. :gaah:

I think of fugitives, too... but I've often had problems finding them. Is there an easily searchable database of wanted criminals?? If not, there should be!

Sparky, Do you know what the A stands for as is middle name.

Unfortunately only LE have those databases. The closest thing we have is only the FBI most wanted which is by no means complete!!!! Otherwise you got to go local with various LE or court websites and those are variable as well. We are ... Simply ... SOL.
