“I can confirm there was a homicide,” Piecuch said early Saturday evening. “She was a white female on Ninth Street. There is no danger to the public at this time.”
The incident was not a home invasion, Piecuch said.
Late Saturday night, police said the cause of death will be determined by an autopsy scheduled for Monday at the Lehigh Medical Center, but that there is substantial evidence that the death is a homicide.

Snyder County man to admit killing his wife with hammer, attorneys say

The Snyder County man accused of killing his wife with a hammer but failing in his attempt to commit suicide has agreed to plead guilty.

The decision by Kenneth Wochley was confirmed Monday by Snyder County District Michael Piecuch and defense attorney David Noon.

The guilty plea and sentencing are scheduled for April 27 in county court. Neither attorney would reveal terms of the plea agreement.

Kenneth C. Wochley had no comment in Snyder County court Thursday morning after pleading no contest to third-degree homicide in the April 2016 beating death of his wife and was sentenced to serve between 90 months and 40 years in state prison.

"I have nothing to say or add to it," Wochley, 76, told President Judge Michael T. Hudock when asked if he wanted to make a statement.

In pleading no contest to third-degree homicide in his wife's killing, Wochley is not admitting guilt, but acknowledging there is enough evidence for a conviction.

In delivering the sentence, Hudock said he accepted the plea agreement based on court records and victim impact statements submitted by two unidentified people.

"This is obviously a sad day," he said. "Sometimes, in cases like these, judges make speeches. I don't think anything I can say will make any difference at all."

No motive has been given for the brutal assault on Ann Wochley.
