I couldn't find much, either, which is terribly sad to me. How can people try to solve the mystery if they don't know there IS one? Perhaps the family is deceased.

There is one solid fact, that Diane was last seen on March 1, 1974. But by whom and where?

Possible, although over a year later and recent drowning. It says very bad teeth and had given birth the year before.
Wish there was more information on Diane.
I think you should submit it though.

Don’t get hung up on the March 1 date. Lately there’s been cases added to namus from the 70s that show specific last seen dates and then also say “last seen sometime in the early 70s.” I wonder if these are missing person cases that either spawned from law enforcement looking for the person for some reason or disinterested family members, which explains the lack of info.

I requested that the following females' DNA be compared:

Missing person Diane Patricia Collins:
The National Missing and Unidentified Persons System (NamUs)

Unidentified Alcona County Jane Doe:
The National Missing and Unidentified Persons System (NamUs)

I suspect both females may have been transients based on their descriptions or few details, and it's not uncommon for them to use aliases, to explain the years from when the missing person was last seen, and the unidentified died.

WHAT MATCHES

-The missing person was last seen ~140+ miles from the unidentified's location.
-They both have a gap in their teeth.
-Their demographics and physical description's match.

I live only about 5 miles North of Mud Creek where this lady was found. In fact, she is buried only about a mile from my home in a potter's graveyard. She is the only unidentified in our County.

Ottawa County is a rural area with only small towns, and is a farming community. We are right on the banks of Lake Erie, and are a tourist area fron about May to Labor Day, Other than those months, the only people here are those of us that live here.

Mud Creek is very rural and is just that, a creek, and it's muddy. It most certainly is not a body of water anyone would want to swim in, especially in the nude, and definately not in October. No one goes swimming here in Ohio in October, not even in our swimming pools. It's way too cold.

If she did drown, as stated by coroner, I'd venture to guess it was not an accident. Mud Creek is not very deep and not very wide, and as I stated, no one swims in Mud Creek. If anyone were to go to that creek, it would most likely be to sit on the bank and fish for Bullhead or Catfish. Unless you are from this area, you would not find Mud Creek.

My hunch is that someone dumped her body there or possibly took her there and drown her. If so, someone from our area or who knows this area very well has gotten away with murder all of these years.

I have tried many times times to get the Detectives here in ottawa County to extract her DNA and submit it to Parabon so Genetic Genealogists can give her identity back to herk to no avail.
