Around 12:45 p.m., SCHP sent out another alert reporting delays at mile marker 153 and a vehicle fire at mile marker 151.

The NBC affiliate in Columbia, SC, reported a woman’s body was also found near the incident. No word on if the body investigation is related to the vehicle fire, or any other incidents in that area.

RIP, Cassandra. If this was a crime, I hope you receive justice.

SCHP: Man may have info in death

Authorities want to talk with an Orangeburg man about a woman who was found dead on the side of Interstate 26.

Lester Demetri Ernest Mack is a “person of interest” in the case, according to S.C. Highway Patrol Cpl. Sonny Collins. Mack has not been charged with any crime in connection with the incident.

“The MAIT team wants to try and bring some closure,” he added. MAIT, an acronym for the Multi-disciplinary Accident Investigation Team, investigates complicated vehicle crashes.

Mack may have information regarding this incident, Collins said.
