Subtropical Depression 22 Forms Southeast of Bermuda

As of 5:00 p.m. Saturday, Subtropical Depression 22 was near 29.1 north and 60.8 west, or about 325 miles southeast of Bermuda. A Tropical Storm Watch remains in effect for Bermuda. The depression is moving to the west-northwest near 20 mph with maximum sustained winds of 35 mph. The estimated minimum pressure is 1009 millibars, or 29.80 inches. An upper-level ridge of high pressure will continue to steer the system to the northwest during the next several days before it stalls just off the Carolina and Virginia coasts during the middle part of the week. The system will be in an environment that is not incredibly favorable for development. Even so, it may take on more tropical characteristics over the next 24 hours and could become a tropical storm.
