Priest's sister hopes for death penalty for his accused killer
"I hope he gets the death penalty," says Deborah Bedard, Father Rene's sister. "I know my brother didn't believe in that but we know he killed him and I want the death penalty for him."

Brian Robert said he warned his brother about working with former prisoners like Murray who could put him in danger.

"I said, 'Father Rene, I can't be down there and sit outside your apartment or spend the night in your apartment. If somebody has intentions you have to be careful,'" said Robert.

Father Rene's sister said she also warned him.

"'Father Rene Dear God, you can't trust everybody, you can't believe every word you hear from them.' But he did. He wanted to trust everybody," Bedard said.

“If anybody really loves Father Rene, they’ll forgive me because he was a man of God.”

    What a self-centered, self-important POS.

    RIP Father Rene

It does work that way. For Christians, and I'm sure other faith traditions (To be honest I know very little about other faith traditions so I wouldn't presume to speak for them) forgiveness is an integral part of our relationship with God. We are called to forgive others for in doing so we release the hold they have on our souls. You see, most often forgiveness isn't about accepting or condoning another's behavior, it's about freeing our souls from the control of other's behavior.

Murray needs to be held accountable for his crimes. Most likely he needs to be imprisoned for the rest of his life. We have to pray he is never allowed the opportunity to do this again. I don't support capital punishment so for me that isn't an option, but life without parole would be a just sentence.

This was the first time I had heard this

Investigators believe Murray tricked Robert, who was trying to counsel the former Aiken resident, into going to Aiken to visit Murray's children on April 10. When Murray was denied access to the children, Murray forced Robert into the trunk of Robert's Toyota and proceeded to commit a number of burglaries and an arson in Aiken, according to earlier reports.

Murray told investigators that he pulled off the side of the road at one point, took Robert from the trunk and shot him there. The following week, Murray agreed to show law enforcement where he killed Robert, which was off River Road in Burke County.
