Still missing. I'm really worried about this guy, he may have had a mental break and be wandering the streets somewhere.

Sigmon has two scars toward the middle of his forehead, a cartridge that pokes out of the middle of his chest and scratches on his left forearm.

Sigmon was last seen wearing blue jean carpenter pants, brown boots with duct tape on the toes, a blue mechanic short with “Andy” and “Renwood Mills” on patches. He also has a tongue ring and had a watch on his right wrist.

Deputies believe Sigmon ran out of gas along the highway. A deputy stopped and checked on him and thought he was OK...

Two hours later, Sigmon ended up near a large plantation 2 miles away where Adrian Carpenter tried to talk with him.

"He was walking across from our house and he was confused and disoriented," Carpenter said.

The sheriff's office received a report at about 2:30 p.m. that day of a person who fit Sigmon’s description entering the woods on foot off of Peter Hairston Road...

Family members told Channel 9 that Sigmon was prescribed some new medication recently and might be disoriented.

No more clues have been found in relations to Sigmon’s missing persons case since two weeks after he went missing when investigators found his shirt, shoes and socks in the woods near where he as last seen.

“When they found his shoes, socks and shirt, they (investigators) said they’re never seen a case like this before – its like he disappeared into thin air,” Grant said.

Family members believe that somethings “not right” with Sigmon’s disappearance.

“Theres a lot of questions that don’t have any answers. The Davie County Police - why did that policeman not sit there and make sure they he’d left? Instead of waiting hours and then getting a phone call from the care takers at the plantation about a suspicious vehicle across the road. Andy never went more than two to three days without talking to his family members. He’s not used his ATM card – nothing,” Grant said.

Friends and family of Andy Scott Sigmon gathered outside of Renwood Mills in Newton on Tuesday afternoon to mark the one-year anniversary of Sigmonís disappearance in Davie County.

Paige Sigmon, Andy Sigmonís sister, said her brother was shy, but friendly once someone knew him.

More than a year after a now 24-year-old man went missing, hope isn't lost. Family and friends returned back to the site Saturday where Andy Sigmon was last seen.

They were searching the area, hoping for answers.

"We hope to finally be able to find some answers that will lead us to Andy or give us something to along because we've had absolutely nothing," said Gail Sigmon, Andy's mother. "Nothing since he first went missing."

The mission of the group of volunteers Saturday was crystal clear: to find Andy and to bring him home alive. However, hope has been hard to keep strong, many say.

July 5 will mark 15 months since Andy went missing in Davie County. Volunteers searched the area where his vehicle was located last year. It was found in Advance on Highway 6 East, just north of Peter Hairston Road.

"We don't know anyone in this area," said Gail. "None of Andy's friends seem to know him knowing anyone in this area. We have absolutely no idea how he ended up here."

Saturday's search was crucial for Andy's mother as she was recently diagnosed with terminal cancer. She wants to see her son before it's too late.

“Gail may see him before we do. But we won’t give up.”

This is heartbreaking. I so wish I could be there to help find Andy.

From the very first article posted:

"The Davie County Sheriff’s Office is searching for Andy Sigmon, whose vehicle was found abandoned on the roadside of East N.C. 64, just north of Peter Hairston Road.

    ...

Officers responded to that area at 2:30 p.m. on April 5 and spoke with Sigmon, who did not seem distressed or in need of help. He reportedly told an officer he would leave the area. Later the same day, witnesses spotted a man matching Sigmon’s description walking around the woods 'acting strange.'

Davie County Sheriff’s Chief Deputy J.D. Hartman said witnesses told investigators Sigmon 'was talking out of his head.'" (BBM)

Though the article states the officers were not alarmed, there must have been something about Andy's behavior that day that prompted someone to call them in the first place.

We see the same exact thing happen over and over.

Hindsight is 20/20, but I wish LE would be a little more cautious when assistance is requested in situations like this.

Try to spend a little time talking to the person. Encourage him/her to reach out to a family member or a friend, and ask them if he/she sounds like his/her usual self to them. Call for an ambulance and at least have the person evaluated by a medical professional. Do something.
