Back on Oct. 25, 2015, deputies were called out to 3900 South County Road 1200 #2 in reference to a check welfare for Ashley Marie Cruz-Rodriguez, 19 and John Raymond Iglesia-Alvarez, 20. When deputies arrived, the homeowner told deputies that both were staying with her and her live in boyfriend. But on October 10, the homeowner woke up and found Cruz-Rodriguez and Alvarez left and had taken all their stuff.

The report states that both Cruz-Rodriguez and Alvarez' family in Puerto Rico have not seen or heard from them since October 1, 2015.

[h=3]Midland Co. Sheriff: Skeletal remains found in garbage pit may be missing teens[/h]
MIDLAND COUNTY, TX (KWES) - The Midland County Sheriff's Office are investigating after skeletal remains were found in a garbage pit on Saturday.

Sheriff Gary Painter said it all started when the sheriff's office received several tips.

We're told that's when a K-9 team came in from out of town and began searching 18 acres located at 5000 West County Road 116.
Painter said that three dogs gave a positive hit on two locations in the same 20x30x15 garbage pit, which was full of dirt and other items.
Authorities then called out the Road and Bridge Department to bring out a backhoe and authorities started moving dirt and debris out of the pit.
We're told about 8 feet down in the pit, authorities found a skeletal foot, possibly a female. The search continued and authorities found additional bones and other items under the remains.
Painter stated in a press conference on Monday that they believe there is another body in the pit because of strong links to a missing persons case from Oct. 2015 where two teenagers were reported missing.

We started searching, and we found an individual in a house that had some of their property,” police said. “We could not find the teenagers. We had nothing further to go on, and we… pray that this case will tie back to that and that we will be able to positively identify.”

The sheriff said the case will be worked seriously and that arrest or search warrants could come in the future. The property owner isn’t considered a person of interest

Information the MCSO received a few weeks ago revealed a suspect was no longer in the county.

[h=1]Painter: Search to target north end of 15-foot pit[/h]

Sheriff Gary Painter told the Reporter-Telegram on Tuesday that officials are going through every bucket of dirt looking for a second set of remains.

He said the remains of one person – possibly connected to a case of two missing teenagers back from 2015 – have been sent to the Tarrant County Medical Examiners’ Office. DNA from the remains will be compared to DNA samples made available from the parents of the missing teens. It was reported Monday that the remains that were found are believed to be female.

Painter said 120,000 yards of dirt have been moved thus far in the effort to find remains. The discovery of a skeletal foot was made in a pit in the area of the 5000 block of West County Road 116 at about 6:20 p.m. Sunday. The pit is 15 feet deep on the south end and between 6 to 10 feet deep on the north end, according to Painter.

Officials have said the search is motivated by the investigation's possible links to a missing persons case from October 2015, when two teens went missing from a trailer park in Midland.

But with every passing hour uncertainty continues to grow, Sheriff Gary Painter told KWES-TV, "There's no definite proof of who it is, especially with us not finding the second body, that puts this one into question to who it is, until we get DNA confirmation."

The human remains are now in Tarrant County for an autopsy, which will hopefully shed light on who that person was and what happened to them.

Here's another article:

Midland County Sheriff Gary Painter says the remains were found Saturday as investigators were searching a second pit on private land after receiving a tip early last month.

An initial set of remains were found about a week ago in another pit on the same land.

The remains discovered Saturday were found about 14 feet (4.3 meters) down.

Painter says two teens have been missing since October 2015. He says a person was found with some property belonging to the missing pair, whose names weren't released.

I wonder why they are not releasing the names? It seems obvious as these are the only two reported missing from Midland in Oct 2015. Unless there are two more missing teens that never had a single news story about them. Which is possible, I suppose. :scared:

[h=3]Midland Sheriff: Skeletal remains found in trash pit were both shot in the head[/h]
MIDLAND, TX (KCBD) - The Midland County Sheriff's Office released the preliminary autopsy report from the Tarrant County Medical Examiner about the two skeletal remains that were found in a trash pit in Midland County on Jan. 27 and Feb.5.

The report says both skeletal remains had gunshots to the skull area and both are declared as homicide. The remains have not been identified at this time.
"This will tie back to a case we had in October of 2015. We had two teenagers come up missing. We had their family get in touch with us and notify us. We found an individual who had their property but we could not find the teenagers. We pray this case will tie back to that," said Sheriff Gary Painter in a news conference on Monday, Jan. 29.

Sheriff Painter says they will be relying on the District Attorney's Office moving forward. They will be drawing up search warrants, arrest warrants, and more in the very near future. They are hoping to move fast and "find the location of the individual we are looking for."

The pit is located on County Road 1227 and West County Road 116.
Officials have not released the names of the teens because an official identity of the remains has not been made.

Wow! I thought this one will always stay unanswered! Even if it is sad, i am glad they may be possibly found and will find their peace finally.

[h=1]Key piece in puzzle solved in Midland County double homicide case[/h]
A preliminary autopsy report shows that both victims died from gunshot wounds to the head, which suggests the two deaths are connected. The double homicide investigation timeline seems to match up with the only open missing persons case in Midland County, where two teenagers have been missing since October 2015.

"You start with nothing and then here's one piece and here's another piece," Midland County Sheriff Gary Painter said.
It all started back on January 27th, with a tip that led deputies, the Texas Rangers and the F.B.I. to a tree farm just south of I-20 in Midland County.
The first body was found in a pit, eight feet below the ground and exactly one week later detectives found another body 14 feet underground. The remains of the second body, believed to be a male, were unique in that plenty of tissue was left on the body making the identification process even easier.

Only a couple pieces are left in the puzzle and they are the answers to the following two questions... could the bodies be those of two teenagers who have been missing since October 2015 -- Ashley Marie Cruz-Rodriguez and John Raymond Iglesia-Alvarez? Who killed them?

"All of the questions that you have is who, what, when, where, why and how -- all of those must be answered," Sheriff Painter said.
The official autopsy report, which will identify both bodies, is expected within a few weeks.
