KS - 4 federal agents shot in shootout at Country Club Motel , Topeka, April 2016

What started as a would-be arrest at a Kansas motel ended with four federal agents shot and the motel engulfed in flames.

Officers from the U.S. Marshals Service's Fugitive Task Forces were looking for a suspect Saturday night at the Country Club Motel, Topeka police Lt. Colleen Stuart said.

But when they reached the motel, someone opened fire and struck two U.S. marshals, an FBI agent and a fourth federal agent, Stuart said. It was not immediately clear which agency the fourth agent belonged to.

Topeka Fire Marshal Michael Martin told WIBW that the motel was destroyed but would not comment on whether the blaze was intentionally set or whether authorities found any bodies inside.

Also uncertain: whether the suspect was still inside or managed to escape.

This is bothering me deeply. There was a large demo derby in Topeka and friends of the Ohio victims mentioned this.
I wonder,,,,, IF this is related or tied in to the Ohio case.

I'm thinking this is unrelated to the Ohio massacre, but obviously could be wrong because LE so far has released very little information.

Amy McCarter, police spokeswoman, said the wounded federal officers were transported to an area hospital for treatment.

Miller and McCarter couldn't confirm whether Orlando Collins was the man being sought at the motel. As of Friday, Collins had been sought as a person of interest in a holdup and carjacking on Friday in the 100 block of S.W. 37th. The car was set on fire. The robber was armed with a sawed-off shotgun. Collins also was sought in the April 6 attempted robbery of the Brookwood Dillons, 2815 S.W. 29th, and the armed holdup of a Kwik Shop, 102 S.W. 37th.

Body found in Topeka motel room after federal agents shot
The FBI said a body has been found in a burned out room of a Topeka motel where an occupant fired shots at federal agents late Saturday.

Officers from the U.S. Marshal’s Service’s fugitive task force were trying to arrest Orlando J. Collins, 28, at the Country Club Motel near 37th Street and Topeka Boulevard. Collins was on the Kansas Most Wanted List and faced charges of interfering with commerce by means of robbery.
