This morning Alaska State Troopers received a report of a missing juvenile male that is developmentally challenged. The child is identified as Dustin Ames, 11 of Fairbanks. He is a medium-complexion black male and looks to be approximately 8 years old in size and stature. He is under 5 foot tall and is approximately 60 pounds. He has short dark hair, dark brown eyes and it is believed that he is wearing a black cowboy hat, an orange t-shirt and a black and red backpack. He went missing in the area of Beverly Drive and Bonanza Trail area which is near the Murphy Dome area of Fairbanks. The child reportedly ran away and it is not believed that he would cooperate with any good Samaritans. If contacted, he may talk about living in the woods or going to Georgia to visit family. If anyone has possibly sighted the child, please contact 911 or 451-5100 immediately.

Dustin's safe and in good health!

“At approximately 1530 hours, Dustin Ames was located along Goldstream Road by a volunteer searcher,” Despain told Channel 2 in an email. “Ames was in good health and is being reunited with his father. All searchers and assets are being recalled from the field.”

This says Dustin has gone missing again: http://www.newsminer.com/arctic_cam/...8e61dd21f.html

Dustin Ames is black, 4-foot, 6-inches tall who weighs about 75 pounds. He is autistic, police said, and was last seen at 4 a.m. on Aug. 25 in the Sheep Creek area. He was wearing a white T-shirt, jeans and riding an old BMX bike and had a rifle in his possession.
BBM. I hope he has discarded the rifle by the time they find him or this could be disastrous

I can only hope that he planned on using the rifle to hunt, that he's run away and is trying to "camp" or live off the land. His having a firearm is, indeed, scary.

This is sad that LE is not letting or wanting anyone to help because of the weapon. I am pretty sure the boy may have just thought he would go hunting and gotten lost. I seriously doubt he would try to shoot someone on purpose. At least I would hope not.
I think they need all the manpower they can get to help find him but it sounds like that is not the case because of the gun.

If this drags on then LE may have to reconsider not letting people help.

"Trooper spokeswoman Megan Peters urged anyone with potentially useful information to call but not to approach the child since he may be armed.
"We do have to keep public safety in mind so we are asking people not to approach the child and to contact us," Peters said.

It may also be because he is autistic and won't understand or respond to people the way a typical 11 year old kid would.

He went missing back in April and was found back then. This is a new disappearance. His clothes and circumstances described are different.

    Thank you!
I was so concerned with him having that rifle that this would end badly. Thankful he was found safe a second time!

He's so precious. I just adore that photo of him with the dogs. He's hard to forget, I was happy to find he was home safe!
