Hundreds gather in Yorkton for a candlelight vigil in honour of missing teen Mekayla Bali on Tuesday, April 27, 2016

The 16-year-old was last seen by her family when she was dropped off for school on April 12.

RCMP say there is no evidence she is injured or has come to harm. Her family says this is out of character for her and they are at a loss as to why she disappeared.

Anyone with information on Bali's whereabouts is asked to contact Yorkton RCMP.

Mekayla is described as a Caucasian female, approximately 5'2" tall and weighs approximately 125 lbs, with blonde hair and blue eyes.

Mekayla is known to change her appearance: she has red-ish hair which can be dyed blonde or other colours and she wears her hair down, pulled back, straight or wavy. She sometimes wears dark rimmed glasses and a teal/mint coloured infinity scarf.

There is no reason to believe Mekayla has left Canada and there is no knowledge to indicate she has a passport.

Police have received tips from the public, but Mekayla has not been located to date.

Police have been in frequent contact with Mekayla’s family. They are concerned for her wellbeing and, like investigators, want to ensure she is safe.

Bumping for Mekayla and hoping she is located soon.

Still nothing... read, but unable to find it again that Major Crimes and Historical cold cases are involved in the investigation

What happened in that 1 hour that is unaccounted for, did she meet someone, if so, why, and perhaps most importantly, who?
imo.
rbbm.
Insp. Jennifer Ebert, with the RCMP “F” Division South District, also spoke on Friday and said investigators have determined Bali did not board a bus on April 12.

RCMP did receive a tip yesterday that went back to Bali’s actions on April 12. Ebert said they are following up on that tip.

“The question we are asking the public is ‘where were you on April 12?’” Ebert said.

Ebert said investigators have conducted more than 100 interviews with people who know Bali or have seen or spoken to her in the days leading up to her disappearance.

“Investigators have developed a timeline of her whereabouts on the morning of April 12, 2016, with the exception of one hour between 10:45 a.m. and 11:55 a.m,” Ebert said.

Police have received information regarding an unknown adult male who may have information relating to Mekayla’s actions before she was last seen. This male may have been with Mekayla at the STC Bus Depot on 1st Avenue North in Yorkton. This unknown male has a tattoo below his left elbow of a cross with flames around it (see attached image). He is described as:

  • Male between 40 and 50 years old
  • 5’10” to 6’2” in height
  • Stocky, medium build with muscular arms
  • Dark hair
  • Wearing a dark navy vest jacket with an elastic waist band in back
  • Has a tattoo on his triceps/bicep area of his right arm that appeared to be a circle with several designs with multiple colors
  • Has a scar or scratch below his left eye on his cheek approximately ¾ to an inch in length, appeared to be red in color
This individual is NOT a suspect. Investigators simply wish to identify this individual and speak with him to assist with efforts to locate Mekayla.
While Mekayla was last seen in the STC Bus Depot in Yorkton, investigators have spoken with the employees working at the bus depot and determined she did not board a bus on April 12. Rumours have circulated that Mekayla is in either Regina or Saskatoon. Additionally, several sightings and tips have been reported to police. These have all been investigated and Mekayla has not been located.
Investigators have found no evidence Mekayla has a passport and investigators have no reason to believe she has left Canada. However, as is standard practice in an investigation like this, our law enforcement partners at border crossings have been notified the RCMP is looking for Mekayla. All leads are being thoroughly investigated and investigators are not ruling out any possibilities.
At this point in the investigation, there is no indication of foul play; however, we must locate and speak with her to confirm her safety. Mekayla’s family is concerned for her well being, and like us, want to ensure she is safe.
Investigators will continue looking for Mekayla until she is located. If you have information to share or if you see Mekayla, do not wait – please contact police or report it IMMEDIATELY.

This is the first I have heard about this case. I find it disturbing that a 16 year old who seems to have cut off all contact with friends and family (out of character) and was last seen at a bus station with an older man.

Here is the image of the tattoo on the man she was seen with:

Looking at the timeline, I just don't understand what Mekayla was doing the morning she went missing.
Was she waiting for someone to arrive in town on a bus?
Was she waiting to meet someone to joing them to head somewhere on a bus?

I think she was naive and didn't truly understand what she was getting into. She didn't know not to trust an older man who had smooth-talked her.

I truly hope that Mekayla is doing well, but I am fearful that she got in over her head and she doesn't know what to do. (and, I truly hope that nothing tragic has happened to her.)

Additonal details...
...When Mekayla was reported missing she was 16-years-old; she has since turned 17-years-old.

...Police have received information regarding an unknown adult male who may have information relating to Mekayla’s actions before she was last seen. This male may have been with Mekayla at the STC Bus Depot on 1st Avenue North in Yorkton. This unknown male has a tattoo below his left elbow of a cross with flames around it (see attached image). He is described as:

Male between 40 and 50 years old
5’10” to 6’2” in height
Stocky, medium build with muscular arms
Dark hair
Wearing a dark navy vest jacket with an elastic waist band in back
Has a tattoo on his triceps/bicep area of his right arm that appeared to be a circle with several designs with multiple colors
Has a scar or scratch below his left eye on his cheek approximately ¾ to an inch in length, appeared to be red in color

Mekayla Bali was first reported missing April 12.
She was last seen at the bus depot in Yorkton, Sask., but never made it onto the bus.
RCMP Insp. Jennifer Ebert says investigators would like to speak with a man who was at the bus stop and might have been one of the last people to have seen the girl.

What busses arrived around 1:00pm and who was on it/them? It seems like M was flitting around, killing time prior to the bus station visit. Waiting on someone to arrive via bus?
