    New Article today!! NEW INFO
Odd silence falls over Missy Bevers murder probe as ‘Person of Interest’ and ‘Vehicle of Interest’ emerge
by Alan Duke, Reporter & 'Crime Stories With Nancy Grace' Co-host
    January 10, 2017

    Snip:
"While sources tell us the silence is a intended to slow the “crazies” whose speculation and leads have distracted them, other reasons may also explain the strategy. There is a new “person of interest” and his law enforcement connections have made the case too sensitive to discuss publicly until it is resolved, one source says.

Although Crime Online has been told the name of this “person of interest” by a source, we will not publish it until police confirm it on the record.
    .....
A woman arriving for the “Camp Gladiators” work out found Bevers dead inside the church about 45 minutes later. Midlothian police received a 911 call reporting the discovery at 5:06 a.m.

    ....

Another video recently released online shows what police call a “vehicle of interest,” although investigators will not confirm if they have identified its driver or explained its unusual appearance near the church. It was recorded by a series of cameras posted around a gun store near the church about two hours before the murder. The Nissan Altima spends six minutes in the SWFA Outdoors parking lot, much of the time with its lights off. The church is on the opposite side of the divided highway, less than a half mile away.

MIDLOTHIAN - Rumors and misinformation recently circulated on social media about Midlothian Police having a potential suspect in the murder of Terry "Missy" Bevers. Those rumblings are unfounded, as police are still seeking the public's help with information that could lead to an arrest and conviction in April 2016 murder.
Midlothian Assistant Police Chief Kevin Johnson said the name circulating online, Lyle Valentich, was considered a person of interest at one point. However, the tip did not materialize with Valentich becoming a suspect and was closed out "months ago."
"In general, I can say with the dozens of specific person's of interest that were called in that we ran them through a variety of filters, which included their potential connection to the victim or the church," Johnson said. "Obviously, their alibi at the time of the offense, their height, weight, background and then with most of them there were face to face interviews. So none of that really lead to him become more than just a person we had a tip on."
Johnson said the tip was provided to police in May or June.
Bevers was found dead April 18 in the Creekside Church of Christ where she was preparing to lead a 5 a.m. exercise class. Investigators canvased the nearby businesses and neighborhoods for people who may have seen something or captured security video. None of those leads have panned out, Johnson said.
According to a May 20 Daily Light article, police have learned from the forensic reconstruction of the security tape provided by the church that the suspect is between 5-foot-2 and 5-foot-7 and does appear to have a lighter skin color.
Johnson previously said that police continue to look for the driver of a light-colored sedan seen pulling into the SWFA Outdoors parking lot April 18 near the church at about 2 a.m. Rain obscured details of the car. http://www.waxahachietx.com/news/201...lothian-police

Internet Sleuths Muddy Waters and Wreck Lives in Missy Bevers’ Murder Investigation

    Tuesday, January 31, 2017 at 4 a.m

    http://www.dallasobserver.com/news/i...gation-9129736

A legion of investigators, unasked, have been probing the case via Facebook groups dedicated to solving Bevers' murder: Case Crackers: Who Killed Missy Bevers, Justice for Missy Bevers, Let’s Catch Missy Bevers Killer, Missy Bevers — Unfiltered and Uncensored. The groups’ memberships range from 50 to 1,100 citizen investigators who are dissecting the case nearly every day. There, theories swirl: Love triangles gone awry, a jealous husband with an enraged father, a gas station attendant with a “checkered past.”

In efforts to help police — or snag the $50,000 reward money — amateur internet investigators following Missy Bevers’ case have analyzed search warrants and still images of the killer in makeshift tactical gear. Some dissected the outdoor store surveillance video, pointing out that the driver’s seat is pushed too far back for the killer and that the Nissan may have been flashing its headlights at someone. Police have yet to mention an accomplice. Others have gone so far as running background checks, trolling social media sites of friends and family and approaching Missy Bevers’ family and friends for information. They use acronyms to discuss and debate guilt or innocence as if they’re playing a game of Clue.

These musings have crossed the social media threshold and into the real world, wreaking havoc on people’s lives and, in some cases, wasting man-hours as police track down false leads. The police seem exasperated. “They need to remember that these are people with families,” Midlothian Assistant Police Chief Kevin Johnson tells the Observer. “Just because we’re following up on a tip and talking with someone doesn’t mean they’re guilty.”

Anytime the police speak to someone, often called a “person of interest” in the case, that person becomes a target for conjecture.

“People were sharing my address. ...” says one former person of interest who wishes to remain anonymous. “These people have no clue to who I am and [are] jumping on the bandwagon. They could gather everyone on Facebook groups into an auditorium and tell them the truth, but they don’t want the truth. They just want to crucify somebody.”

Ok, I went ahead and reached out to MPD asking for clarification. Turns out I was wrong - Spann was incorrect and the search warrant was correct. The suspect is NOT seen on video after the murder:
