A body has been found in a backyard and investigators have arrested a man and woman in connection with the case.

A 31-year-old woman and a 34-year-old man from Farwell have been arrested with the case. The suspects lived at the home where the body was found, police said.

One of the suspects is a family member of Hempel's and the other is Hempel's daughter's boyfriend.

Family and friends of Lenny Hempel spent most of yesterday searching his property because something told them not to give up.

"We almost left a couple times. We were going to look at state land up the road but something just said he was here and to keep looking," says Linda Tessman.

That's when Lenny's nephew noticed a garden on the property looked like it was worked on, which is earlier than normal.

Woman to spend a year in jail for role in father's death in Clare County - September

http://www.mlive.com/news/saginaw/index.ssf/2016/09/woman_to_spend_a_year_in_jail.html

A woman was sentenced to one year in jail and five years of probation for her role in the death of her father who went missing in Clare County on April 9.

The charges against Angela Hempel were reduced in June when a plea agreement called for her to plead to three felonies including: accessory after the fact, concealing the death of an individual and lying to a police officer during a violent crime investigation. She also agreed to testify against Kuhns.

"Her role came after he was already killed," Ambrozaitis said.

Farwell man admits killing girlfriend’s father
James Bryan Kuhns, 36, pleaded to a charge of open murder in the April 2016 killing of Leonard “Lenny” Hemple, a former Macomb County man who had moved to the couple’s Farwell home not long before he was killed.

On July 10, a judge will hear additional evidence to decide whether Kuhn will be sentenced for first degree premeditated murder, punishable by life withour parole, or second degree, punishable by any term up to life.

I can't seem to find any sentencing updates.
