Words fail me.

Do we have any locals that can help us understand about the area and what is going on in this part of their town?

SAN ANTONIO - Bexar County sheriff's deputies on Thursday night rescued eight children from a home in the northeast part of the county.
Two toddlers were found around 11:45 p.m. in the backyard of a home in the 8100 block of Chipping. One of them was chained to the ground and another was tied to a door with a dog leash, the Sheriff's Office said.

Thank God someone made that call to 911.Bet someone went out partying.

I knew I shouldn't have opened this post. It makes me sick to think what people do to children. What kind of world do we live in??

The mother of six children found inside, who returned after authorities arrived at the home, was charged with two felony counts. Prosecutors said officials were searching for the parents of the toddlers restrained outside, who authorities believe are siblings.... Keith said authorities believe Phillips was responsible for the two children found outside. The family has no prior history with Texas child welfare officials, Crimmins said, but added that the agency was investigating a report that a home day care may have been operating at the address.

So she was the babysitter of the two tied up children! Argh!

Doesn't look like a really bad area, but I guess you never know. I would think neighbors are close enough to hear children crying for help maybe? Lets do the same to these parents and see how they like it! Disgusting. Poor babies!

FWIW- Social media comments say the area is pretty bad - a "crime infested cesspool". Locals refer to it as the Walzen area in east San Antonio in the comments under this article: http://www.ksat.com/news/bexar-deputies-find-children-chained-in-backyard-tied-with-dog-leash.

It was a neighbor that alerted LE to the sound of crying children. http://news4sanantonio.com/news/loc...und-chained-tied-up-outside-bexar-county-home

My thoughts exactly. :(

This is HORRIBLE. I'm absolutely just shocked that people can do this to children. I don't even chain my dog in the yard!

I have no words. Well, I have plenty of words, they just aren't appropriate for this forum. :gaah::maddening:

From the article: http://news4sanantonio.com/news/loc...und-chained-tied-up-outside-bexar-county-home

"We've also learned that Porucha Phillips is pregnant with her seventh child." *sigh*

"The family moved into the home in October and dispatch records show sheriff's deputies responded to the address seven times during that month; for among other things animal cruelty, burglary and a disturbance."

Ugh, the animal cruelty doesn't surprise me at all. :maddening:

I'm local and I do not consider the area where this horrific crime occurred to be a good part of town. However, I have never spent much time in the northeast part of the city. In general, the northwest side and parts of the north side are considered the "good" parts of San Antonio as far as neighborhoods, schools, etc.

Thank you locals for checking in. I really appreciate your insight.

So this woman is pregnant with her 7th child? WTH?

There is a lot of gang activity in that general area of the city. There are also a lot of drug arrests in that area. I immediately assumed there will be heavy drug involvement when I first heard this terrible story. Meth is a major problem here, although that is true in many parts of the US.

I am so mad at this woman Porucha! Also, I want to know who are the parents of these two toddlers. Porucha claims they were abandoned by the parents and Porucha was planning to drop them off at a fire station or something. I sure wish she had, immediately! They'd be better off almost anywhere else than with her! Also, she and the reported dad of all 6 of Poruchas biological kids (plus the one she's pregnant with?) showed up at the same time in the AM. But supposedly the dad doesn't live there, they aren't married, and he had been at work all night. So he was not arrested. So where does he live? Are they just claiming he doesn't live there so she can get benefits? Are they seeing children as paychecks only, like so many other abusers? Even if she had only left 6 kids alone at home all night in the house (including a 10 month old!) I can conclude she doesn't care for her kids right and is neglectful. But to chain and tie up toddlers and cause them broken arms! That is torture of little toddlers! And they easily could've died. I am furious!

too bad we cant spray or neuter adults :banghead:

I am disgusted by this.

From an earlier link -
One of the toddlers found outside had a metal chain strapped to his ankle with the other end of the chain fixed to the ground, said Bexar County Sheriff's Office spokesman James Keith. "It was the same kind of setup you would use for a dog," he said.

UM...NOT ME! It is illegal to chain a dog up here in the way these poor children were chained. And one child had a broken arm!! And all children looked malnourished. So yeah...bringing ANOTHER child into the world to neglect seems like a genius idea. GRRR!!!!! I hope all children are taken from her forever.

I'm beyond furious! Where, on earth, do these 'people' come from? I hope the poor animal has been rescued, too.

Horrifying!

Prayers for the innocent children & animals. Please!
