    From May 4 story http://www.fox4news.com/news/136837169-story
"The baby girl died in January but police only arrested the 22-year old Arlington High School graduate on Monday."

"Police say the baby was found at Dickerson's home in Tulsa. He told police he'd accidentally smothered the child while sleeping next to her on the couch.
A medical examiner’s report says the child died of ‘multiple blunt impact injuries.’ There was also bleeding of the brain. The report says the baby had two broken ribs that were starting to heal and the ‘fractures most likely occurred within one to four weeks prior to death.’" bbm

He left the Tulsa Univ. team in 2015.

    Sad, sad, sad.

Former TU football player to stand trial on child-abuse murder charge in infant daughter's death - August

    http://www.tulsaworld.com/news/court...65b068049.html

The internal injuries of a 6-week-old girl who died in January must have been caused by physical trauma inflicted after she was born, a pediatrician testified at a hearing Tuesday for a former University of Tulsa football player who is charged with child-abuse murder.

Tavarreon Mingo Dickerson, 22, told police that he had dozed off on the couch with his infant daughter, Raylie Dickerson, when he awoke to find her pale and limp around 5 a.m. Jan. 10, according to testimony.

After hearing testimony from the child’s mother, the pediatrician and a Tulsa police officer at the preliminary hearing, Tulsa County Special Judge James Keeley ruled that there is enough evidence for Dickerson to be held for trial on a child-abuse murder charge.

Wife first to testify in trial of former TU running back accused of fatally shaking baby

“The evidence will show that it was Raylie’s father, the defendant, who abused her (and) it was Raylie’s father, the defendant, who murdered her,” Assistant District Attorney Sarah McAmis said during her opening statement.

But defense attorney Keith McArtor, during his opening statement, told jurors “there will be no evidence of homicide in this case,” saying testimony from a defense expert witness will reveal that Raylie had a congenital abnormality in her brain stem that made her susceptible to the types of injuries she suffered.

“Jenna (Dickerson) did not believe, nor does she today, that Tavarreon hurt their daughter,” McArtor said.
During Jenna Dickerson’s testimony, District Judge Doug Drummond barred her from answering a question from McArtor about whether she believed her husband murdered Raylie, saying that was for the jury to decide.

However, both attorneys noted that Jenna Dickerson continued to keep contact with her husband after the baby’s death and allowed him to spend time with their two other children.
Pathologist in ex-TU player's trial disputes defense contention of abnormality in infant

Andrea Wiens, working in 2016 as a state Medical Examiner’s Office pathologist, testified Wednesday that she concluded the death was a homicide due to multiple blunt force injuries.

But Dickerson’s defense attorney, Keith McArtor, has argued that Raylie was not killed by her father, contending she had a congenital abnormality in her brain stem that contributed to her death. A defense expert is expected to testify on Dickerson’s behalf to provide more details on the purported abnormality.

Wiens, in her testimony, dismissed the significance of any abnormality and emphasized the volume of injuries she noted on Raylie’s body.

“Raylie is 42 days old and she has multiple unexplained injuries of varying ages,” the pathologist said, adding that an infant does not accumulate such injuries without the infliction of trauma.

Closing arguments set in trial of ex-TU running back accused of fatally shaking baby

Dr. Michael Baxter, a pediatrician who specializes in evaluating cases of abuse and neglect, testified Thursday that he believed Raylie suffered head trauma that caused her death.

Defense witness Zhongxue Hua, a forensic pathologist based in New York, said the vascular malformations he noted in Raylie’s brain stem could have caused a medical emergency similar to an aneurysm in an adult.
Jury Deliberating In Child Abuse Murder Trial Of Ex-TU Football Player

Dickerson's attorney told the jury that the state's evidence didn't prove in any way that Dickerson was responsible for his 6-week-old daughter Raylie's death nearly 2 years ago.

The prosecutor started off her argument by questioning the credibility of the expert.

She says the defense paid the doctor nearly 15-thousand dollars to help them with the case, so she's saying money was a factor in the testimony.
