Victim of elder abuse/ID theft? The gold watch seems a cruel/poignant touch.

He also might not have paid his bookie on time.

Shamong is the back end of nowhere in NJ. (My brother used to live there and calls it Jersey-bama.) I don't think he's from the area, because they would have identified him quickly. It's probably connected to the mob.

I think mob related as well. Heck.....why say he was found in " Shamong " ?

Why not say he was found in the famous " Pine Barrens ". A notorious dumping ground. .....I'm guessing this.

Because Shamong is actually the name of the town?

True.....kaylaraowl......I drive route 206 a few times a month....its pines....and some developed areas.

So, possibly Jimmy Hoffa? Lol

So, possibly Jimmy Hoffa? Lol

Lol, and here I thought Jimmy Hoffa was buried in the Meadowlands...

All joking aside, I'm not familiar with that area (Shamong, Burlington County) but a google map search shows it's about an hour outside of Philly.

Since Shamong is described as out there, wooded, etc. Wonder if he came from Philadelphia.

Nah, mythbusters debunked that. Checking out guys from Philly next. :)
