The possible suspect is described as a a white male, approximately 50-years-old, with salt and pepper hair. He’s believed to have partially grown in facial hair and wearing a light or faded grey, short-sleeve T-shirt, baggy blue pants that appear to be old and faded, and a dark pair of tennis shoes.

They added that the possible suspect may appear and smell of a musty odor of being unwashed in several days, WLOS reported.

The 64-year-old woman was reported missing in Buncombe County Friday afternoon. A woman who called 911 identified herself as a caregiver for woman. The caller said she was receiving texts from the woman who authorities found and took to a hospital.
Wait, what? Texting? While she was tied to the tree? Or while she was in the process of being tied to the tree? Or before she met up with the "white man about 50"? Or was he the one texting on her phone? And why is a 64-year-old who needs a caregiver hiking in the woods?

Makes no sense with such limited info.

A strange story indeed. Why is someone in need of caregiver hiking alone?

Apparently this woman has "something that looks like seizures."

"She has something that looks like seizures, and when she does, she is conscious long enough sometimes to send a text but generally it renders her somewhat mute, the caller said in a 911 recording."

The quote I kept reading was just so oddly stated:
"She’s not deceased at this time,” a rescue worker at the scene told a dispatcher. “She is tied to a tree. This is the one they were looking for.”

There was/is very little info out there despite being one of the trending stories on FB for the past few days. Just reaaly odd.....

A Park Service release describes the suspect as a white man about 50, with graying hair and a partial beard. He was wearing a gray T-shirt, baggy blue pants and dark tennis shoes.

Have to mention this perp. who tied victims to trees, assaulted but thankfully, left alive- he was described as scruffy, dirty and stinky.
Although these cold case attacks occurred in Ontario, Canada, it is speculated that he might well be from out of town.
    Speculation, fwiw..
