There are a lot of black Jewish people around. Some descend from converts who were victims of slavery, some come from communities such as Ethiopian Jews and the Lemba, or descend from Caribbean Jews. Since it says 'or Hispanic', he could possibly also be Sephardic as many of them have darker skin. Or he could be Jewish from South America.

Or it might have been a gift or something and he wasn't Jewish at all. Feels like another one only genetic genealogy can solve. Although Jewish people generally have close-knit communities so maybe getting the word out could help.
